Cinnamon M&M's: where's the cinnamon?
Written: Dec 26, 2011
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Good chocolate flavor, but not very strong cinnamon taste at all.
Cons:Very little cinnamon taste in these CINNAMON candies.
The Bottom Line: Pass these cinnamon M&M's up unless you just want regular M&M's with barely any cinnamon flavor.
My mother is crazy about cinnamon! So, I recently saw these Cinnamon M&M's in the store and snapped them up without a moment's hesitation. I thought I would surprise Mom with this new cinnamon treat she would be sure to love. I also like cinnamon quite a bit too, so I would be able to indulge in a favorite taste at the same time.
These M&M's come in just three "fall or holiday" colors. They are red, deep red (or burgundy) and brown.
Cinnamon M&M's are slightly larger than normal M&M's, I would say about 1/3 larger. They also appear slightly more round, rather than flatter like traditional M&M's.
Unfortunately, I think these Cinnamon M&M's taste only very slightly like cinnamon. It is more like an "essence", rather than an outright flavor of cinnamon. When you first pop one into your mouth, there is just a very slight taste of cinnamon and then the chocolate takes over. That's it. There doesn't seem to be any more cinnamon flavor inside the candy. I think the cinnamon must be made to blend in with the candy shell, because it is not in the chocolate center.
There are 210 calories per serving, 9 grams of fat, 5 grams of saturated fat, 26 grams of sugar and 30 mg of sodium. These candies are made with real milk chocolate.
The mostly brown bag is cute with a green M&M lady dressed with white scarf, gloves and hat holding cinnamon sticks. (This could be slightly misleading because there are no green M&M's in Cinnamon M&M's.)
Just to be clear, these M&M's are not bad in any way except that they just don't have much cinnamon taste at all! And that is the reason for my disappointment in them. My Mom was also underwhelmed and only ate a few of them since they didn't have a cinnamon taste she was looking for.
These cost about $4.00 per 9.90 ounce bag at Target.
