| cntaur5's Full Review: Claiborne Bora Bora 3.4oz Spray by Claiborne for M... |
Originally launched in 2002 like the Daimler Chrysler Dodge Ram, Liz Claiborne, Bora Bora was met with open arms as men indulged in its exotic robust scent. The first thing you'll notice about Claiborne's Bora Bora for men 3.4 oz spray is the unique shape of the bottle. The opaque color and square golden top with the decorative bamboo engravings give it a mark of tropical distinction. Any thing that looks this good has got to smell good right? Right now, Bora Bora is on sale everywhere, leaping off the shelves like the big Dodge Ram's are zooming off of the showroom floor.
Once the golden top is lifted, the bottles golden nozzle is exposed eliciting a fragrance that can best be appreciated when sprayed. Bora Bora for men is considered to have a crisp scent with top notes of citron, bergamot, lemon and lime followed by a strong mid note of lavender. Bora Bora lives up to its marketers brief and definition. The first scent impression of this cologne after the bottle has been sprayed and applied to the skin is a tangy scent. The citrus imparts a sharp, clean scent and is an excellent top note. Bergamot which is the tangy oil expressed from the nearly ripe, nonedible bergamot orange is an excellent fixative. Although lemon is used in countless colognes, it is extremely light and barely noticeable here.
Bora Bora also offers quality base notes of cedar and leather, which gives the fragrance its masculine feel. Not only am I extremely familiar with the cedar that used as a base for many mens cologne, I think the woody and tenacious undertone works well for Bora Bora. The manufacture does an excellent job playing upon cedars popularity and recognition expressing this theme on the bottles woody bamboo styled decorations. Another well-known base note is leather. This scent offers a wonderful odor resembling the sweet, pungent, smoky characteristics of tanned leathers. This final masculine note is the perfect finish for this sultry cologne. My wife likes it and says it has a nice soft masculine smell to it.
Part of Claibornes marketing strategy and positioning, is to have a story line. The name Bora Bora, is suppose to put you in the mood of the Island of Bora Bora a tropical paradise. Seeing that its the dead of winter in the Midwest, I enjoy wearing Bora Bora, because it changes my mood. Instead of thinking of the freezing cold, I think about a nice warm tropical island when I grab the bottle especially when I want to heat things up a bit.
The wearability of Bora Bora, is good, once sprayed to the skin in the morning the aroma usually last until the evening. In my opinion it's ideal for evening wear but can be worn almost any time. The scent is not over bearing and dissipates quickly into the skin once sprayed. As with most colognes it is not a good idea to over do it, a little goes a long way.
Bora Bora, is a classy cologne that marketed to a wide audience, you'll find it at the major department stores and small clothing shops that sell Claiborne products. Liz Claiborne Inc. designs and markets an extensive range of men's fashion apparel which can be worn with the cologne ranging from casual to dressy. Men who wear and enjoy Claiborne fragrances and products will welcome this cologne. You can also get Bora Bora Hair Gel, Body Wash, Deodorant Stick and Aftershave. If you are new to Claiborne, then Bora Bora, would be an excellent starting place, so grab your bottle today. Like Daimler Chrysler's Dodge Ram I'm sure this cologne will be everywhere.
