Pros:easy, nothing to mix, gentle, intermixable colors, long lasting, not permanent, smells nice, good price
Cons:provide on gloves, 3 oz bottles, long/verythick hair may need more than one bottle
The Bottom Line: Try it! Very good value and quality for the money and so easy to use!
I'm not ready to go with permanent hair color and became discouraged with supermarket shelf products. Thankfully, I discovered Clairol Beautiful Collection products at a beauty supply store. You do not have to have a cosmetic license to purchase these. www.clairolpro.com
The original collection has 15 intermixable shades. Clairol has introduced a second line, Beautiful Collection Advanced Gray Solution, advertised to cover more gray longer, which includes 5 colors. I do not believe the two collections can be mixed with each other.
Using the product couldn't be easier. Unlike supermarket products, there is nothing to mix but you do need to provide your own gloves. You work the product through freshly washed damp hair, wait 20 minutes and rinse. Tip: I cover my hair with a disposable plastic cap. To help color last longer you can use heat.
Clairol Beautiful Collection products will NOT lighten hair. It has no ammonia or peroxide. If you do have the beginnings of gray, using a color lighter than your natural hair color can give a wonderful streaked/frosted look, which is the effect I choose to go for. The best part is no roots - it gradually fades away with washing. After using, my hair is shiny and does not have the residue feeling some products tend to leave.
Some semi-permanent hair products tend to have a strong odor that lingers through several washings. I don't notice this as much with the Clairol Beautiful product line. It has more of a shampoo/conditioner scent to me.
The 3 oz bottles may not be enough to saturate long or very thick hair, but keep in mind, because you do not have to mix the product, any leftovers can be saved.
Whether you want to cover up some grays or simply try on a new color, I can recommend the Clairol Beautiful product line. I find it to be a very gentle product and a very good value for your money.
The only 'complaint' I have is that I'd love to see more lighter colors added to the line.
Happy Hair Coloring!
