I had to have my say about this product as most of the written reviews were favorable.
When I picked up a bottle of Infusium 23 Original Leave-In Treatment at Walmart, it had all promises of hair repair and breakage prevention as well as a light formula. I was very interested as I hate build-up but I definitely needed some repair and strengthening. At $4.49 on a roll-back, I thought it was a pretty good bargain so I bought two bottles, one for my daughter also.
This product comes in a brown and white, 16 fl oz, plastic bottle with a squeeze dispenser cap. The product is transparent and very watery but has a slightly sticky consistency.

My Experience
First of all, I wear my hair long and super-straight. I do have about three inches of perm left in the ends of my hair which has dried out a little and I get my fair share of split ends because of it. Because I iron it straight, damage tends to show up more so I am always looking for a product to right this problem.
The application of this product was a total nightmare. It being very watery, it was very hard to spread around without getting it all over me and my bathroom. In order to balance the application, you literally have to douse yourself with it and massage it in as best you can. Also, because of the watery consistency, it is difficult to feel if it is applied evenly. Anyway, after managing to do that without drowning myself, I combed through and blow-dried. It detangled okay but it left a heavy residue on my hair and made it very dull. I found no evidence of instant repair, healthy texture or shine. I was really disappointed. But being a diehard, I thought, well, if this is what it takes to repair, I will keep on using it for a while.
I used this product for at least ten washes and found absolutely no results of Infusium 23s claim except maybe the detangling on wet hair. I still had my split ends and damage like I had before I used it. I tried to use it on dry hair
bad mistake. It was impossible to apply evenly because of its consistency and literally put tangles in my hair instead of getting rid of them. Apart from this, the so-called light formula built up heavily in my hair and was very difficult to wash out.
So, maybe this product was not the right one for my hair. Now, how about my daughter? Again, she used it regularly on her unprocessed hair which is also long and straight. She always complains of split ends. And again, no results, and she also felt the effects of the heavy build-up, this product leaves behind.
In conclusion
I was very disappointed with Infusium 23 Original Leave-In Treatment. Not only did it dull my hair, it also did not live up to any of its claims. I gave it plenty of chance to prove itself by using it regularly but it just did not live up to its promise. Perhaps it would be more effective on short hair but I cannot recommend it at all for long hair.
