Pros: Easy to use, works well, gentle on my scalp.

As a nonprofessional coloring your hair at home can often be a challenge. Finding a product that works for your situation and applying it onto your own head of hair can be tricky. Achieving the desired color and coloring the gray strands is almost impossible! But with Miss Clairol Gray Busters #87N Medium Neutral Blonde 2 oz. all things are possible and you might be pleasantly surprised with the results.
I had remembered seeing Miss Clairol Gray Busters at Sally's Beauty Supply Store many years ago but had always thought it was a product for "old ladies" with a full head of gray. After complimenting the hair color of a woman that I worked with I learned that Miss Clairol Gray Busters isn't just for elderly women with white hair! The woman that I worked with had beautiful golden brown hair as a result of using Miss Clairol Gray Busters. I was shocked when she told me she used GRAY Busters from Sally's Beauty Supply. I never knew she had any gray hair.
After using Miss Clairol Gray Busters #87N Medium Neutral Blonde 2 oz. for the first time I was shockingly surprised! Any gray hair that was obvious before coloring was undetectable. And my hair was medium NEUTRAL blonde, not brassy, not orange. I've continued to use this product for the last year and have been very pleased with the predictable and pleasant looking results.
Where to Find Miss Clairol Gray Busters Hair Color
You won't find this hair coloring product on the drugstore or superstore shelf. It's sold at beauty supply stores like Sally's Beauty Supply and other beauty supply type retail stores both on-line and local. I usually buy mine at the local Sally's priced around $4.89 for a two ounce bottle. However since writing this review on Miss Clairol Gray Busters I've noticed that it can be purchased for a much cheaper price on-line.
It's supplied in a plastic container and is packaged in a small small box that's a little over 4.5" tall. The box is not much to look at, there are no pretty pictures. You'll find a description of the product and directions for use in english and french on the back side of the box.
How to Use Miss Clairol Gray Busters Hair Color
In addition to the Miss Clairol Gray Busters #85N Medium Neutral Blonde 2 oz. you will also need a 20 volume white cream developer. Unlike drugstore type hair color the Gray Busters does not come packaged with a developer. You will need to buy the developer separately. You will also need to buy an applicator bottle and gloves. The applicator bottle can be re-used for future colorings. Buying a box of 100 count gloves is usually practical since they're much less expensive by the piece and can be used for other things around the house.
Mix the entire bottle of Miss Clairol Gray Busters #87N Medium Neutral Blonde 2 oz. with equal parts (2 ounces) of 20 volume cream developer. Depending on your needs a full head application or a root touch-up can be done. After you've tried the product you might find that you only need 1 oz. of color and 1oz. of developer.
Directions for use indicate that Miss Clairol Gray Busters should be left on the hair and processed for 30-45 minutes. The full 45 minutes is recommended for resistant gray hair. I don't have a lot of gray hair (probably less than 100) but the ones on the crown of my head seem to be resistant to color so I leave the mixture on my hair for the entire 45 minutes.
After the 45 minutes I rinse the mixture from my hair, add a little conditioner to my wet hair, rinse again, then style my hair as usual.
Why I will Continue to Use Miss Clairol Gray Busters
Using Miss Clairol Gray Busters 2 oz. gives me predictable and reliable results. It effectively covers the gray hairs and colors the remainder of my hair evenly. I have a sensitive scalp that's prone to psoriasis and using Miss Clairol Gray Busters doesn't aggravate my scalp sensitivity issue.
I haven't had any problems with color fading or washing out. I use a lot of harsh shampoos that sooth my scalp condition and the Gray Busters color has held up well.
One aspect of the color result that could be improved is the amount of shine. After repeated washings I've noticed that my hair looses some of the shine. However, this lack of shine could be due to the shampoos that I use. Using a daily spray on shine mist has helped with this situation.
