| modernmarvel's Full Review: Claritin 24 Hour Allergy Pediatric Reditabs 10 Eac... |
I don't write reviews in health (okay, one sunscreen review a year ago but really, that's it). After trying this product, I had to write a review about Claritin. These pills are GREAT!
August is usually miserable for me. My eyes get red, I get a runny nose, I can't stop sneezing, my head hurts and I am generally miserable until the first frost. My husband would say I get grouchy but I am sure I don't know what he is talking about.
I used to take those little red Sudafed pills but they really only made my sinuses feel somewhat better and they somewhat alleviated my runny nose. If I were in high school, my eyes would be red enough to get sent to the principal's office. The worst part is that, with the Sudafed pills, my symptoms were never entirely gone. Plus, the pills wear off after about 4 hours. This is fine during the day - but waking up at 3am all congested is torture.
Enter Claritin (where have you been all of my life?). I never considered taking it in the past because so many similar drugs make me drowsy (even the ones that promise not to). But, it was the end of August, I was desperate for relief, and willing to try anything.
Baby, these things work. My symptoms are gone. All of them. Completely gone. As far as pollen is concerned, it could be December. And I am not drowsy. I can't believe I waited so long to try this drug. (Cue music, picture me in soft focus skipping through a field of daisies in August).
My only mild complaint: The first dose took about 30 minutes to feel any effect and about an hour to feel the full effect. After that, I take one pill every 24 hours and they don't seem to wear off.
Here are the facts:
ACTIVE INGREDIENT
10 mg Loratadine (an antihystamine)
INACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Citric acid, gelatin, mannitol, mint flavor
TAKING THE PILLS
This particular package has reditabs which are pretty amazing. You don't have to swallow the pills. You put them on your tongue and they dissolve in a nanosecond. They have a mild minty taste. The best part is that you don't need water. This reditab version has the same amount of active ingredient that the pill version has.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I love them. I wish I tried them years ago. They are 100% effective on all of my symptoms for 24 hours and I don't have any side effects. Now that you don't need a prescription to get them, anyone with allergies (unless they have the conditions listed on the package under "warnings") should try these!
