As a college student, a good backpack is a must. Jansport is the only brand of backpack I’ve purchased that has held up under the weight of my textbooks.
In the past, I have bought other brands of packs only to have them rip out at the shoulder strap. I have even had packs begin fraying at stress points in the material. Not once has that happened with my Jansports.
On the average, each of my textbooks weighs approximately 5 pounds. With several books required for each course, imagine how heavy the average student’s backpack becomes. I don’t load all my texts in at once, but with a reasonable portion loaded, it weighs over 35 pounds.
The Jansport Big Student pack is durable - like all the Jansport packs. I use to buy packs that were less expensive but then I would have to replace it mid-year. But my Jansports have lasted not just the full year but continue to last several years later. They have a lifetime guarantee. I sometimes purchased another Jansport pack simply for the change. Still, I have several Jansport packs that after taking much use and abuse are still in good condition. I’ve never thrown one away because it got ruined, just because it started looking bad. They do get dirty. I have even washed them, but after two years, they did get stained. Now I use old packs for camping and to carry stuff to amusement parks and other toting needs.
This Big Student pack comes in the typical colors – Navy and light blue, black, gray, green, red, brown, white, and purple. I have a bubblegum pink pack. The cost for my pack was $30.00. I got it at a discount mall and watched the sales. I noticed the recommended retail price was $50.00. I have purchased them for as low as $20.00. I have bought more attractive Jansport packs than the Big Student Pack I have now. The Big Student is simple and boxy. One I bought 5 years ago is still my favorite but I needed to be able to carry a lot more this year. The Big Student pack is made to tote a lot of stuff.
This pack has:
S-curve shoulder straps and padding on the back for comfort
Two large main compartments great for storing large textbooks and notebooks
Front gear pocket with audio electronics organizer (I use it for my calculator and pencils and pens)
Quick-find cell phone pocket on the top of the front side
And a smaller pocket to keep track of your keys and small stuff
My friends and I like to further individualize our packs by hanging decorative key chains from the zips and it does spruce up this simple pack.
The bottom line though is that Jansport Big Student pack is good quality. It just holds up.
Out of every brand of pack I have purchased, it is the best.
