When you mention to people that you are going to use cloth diapers you get the eye rolling. Kushies are not the diapers of your mother's time. Kushies are near perfect. You know they must have been designed by a mother.
This diaper is made from eight layers of soft flannel. There is a patented built in flap for extra absorption. There is an inner water resistant barrier which pulls the moisture away from you babies skin. I have never had a problem with diaper rash. I love the fact that you are putting soft cloth and not paper next to the babies skin.
I like the easy hook and flap system. It makes it so easy to use. There are no more pins to be messing with. I think most people are fearful of sticking the baby when using cloth diapers. You don't have to worry about that with the great velcro closures.
When the diaper is wet you can just through the diaper into a diaper pail. I have put some water and Dreft into the pail when I know I am not going to get to washing the diapers in the next day or two. I love the fact that even though the outside of the diapers are bright colors or prints the inside flannel is always white after washing.
If you have a child who isn't a heavy wetter you can leave them without a diaper cover for an hour or two. I would recommend a waterproof cover when travelling, overnight, and for heavy wetters. The extra soaker pad is great for overnight. It is easy if you get the covers in which you can just slip this diaper. You can still use traditional plastic pants if you desire.
These diapers come in two sizes. The sizes they come into are small (10lbs to 22 lbs), and large (22lbs to 45lbs). I like the fact that you will not have to replace these diapers if you child has a slight weight gain. You also have a choice of boy prints, girl prints, neutral prints, and solid colors.
There is elastic around the legs. The fit is perfect. They adjust to the width of you child so there is no leaking. When it is hot I have seen no irritating marks around the babies legs.
When I wash the diapers I hook together the diapers by the velcro inside out. This way the velcro isn't attaching itself to other diapers and you make sure the inside flannel gets very clean. If you pull out the extra soaker pad when drying they dry much more quickly.
I have found these diapers at thrift stores, and department stores. If you want to purchase Kushies online you can go to their website www.kushies.com. Please do not be put off by the 8.50 per diaper cost. You will make the money back in no time. The number you will need depends on how often you like to do laundry. These diapers will last for all of your children.
This is a great family investment and for the environment it is best to use cloth. It does make a difference in your pocketbook and for the world.
