Blackheads are really nasty and I've went to all kinds of measures to get rid of mine. Big surprise, Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Astringent didn't work, just like everything else I have ever tried. In fact, I noticed that it is almost 100% the same thing as the Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent.
Directions
Cleanse skin thoroughly before applying medication. Moisten a cotton ball and smooth the cotton ball over your face on to three times daily. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor.-http://www.cleanandclear.com
Scent
I actually think that the smell is the best part of this astringent. It smells like witch hazel, which is a scent that I personally love. This is the only thing that makes the blackhead astringent better than the deep cleaning astringent (the deep cleaning astringent smells really acidic). Both made my eyes water, but I thought this one smelled way better.
How does it work?
Um, it doesn't. The salicylic acid is what is supposed to get rid of the blackheads in this formula. I don't think it helped my blackheads at all, but I do think that it may have helped keep regular acne at bay.
Verdict
Sure it is cheap (about $5 for an 8 ounce bottle), but if you are looking for something to help you out with your blackheads, this stuff probably won't help you out very much. If you have used Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent, liked the product, but hated the smell, switch over to the blackhead formula. The only difference is the blackhead formula has 1% less salicylic acid and smells much better. I wish I could tell you that I have found something that works wonders for blackheads, but so far I haven't. I use masks, I use strips, and nothing has helped me out thus far.
