Over the years, I've experimented with countless facial washes and acne control medications for my oily, breakout-prone skin. Because I have rather large pores that clog very easily much to my dismay, I have to be very careful with how I cleanse my face to keep them free and clean of excess oil, dirt, and make-up. So when I saw a tube of Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser at my local Wal-Mart not long ago, I decided to give it a try as it sounded like something that would work for me. And because I have had much success with other products in this skin care line, I figured I had little to lose. Only after just a few uses, I quickly discovered that the results I received were less than satisfactory. Even though my pores DID seem to be "clean and clear", my sensitive skin type paid the price for me using this somewhat harsh exfoliating facial care product.


~~~The Cleanser~~~

Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser is designed to gently scrub pores clean with tiny, round "micro-scrubbers" that won't overdry the skin. The claim here is that the exfoliating properties found within this unique gritty white daily cleansing lotion will "reveal beautiful new skin every day." Oil-free with a fresh, pleasing scent, this facial care product is medicated with witch hazel and other ingredients (listed below) that deeply cleanse the skin, leaving it less prone to breakouts. Used on a daily basis, Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser is supposed to help keep pores free of the clogging particles regular soap and water leaves behind. But while my pores did seem cleaner, my sensitive skin was left reddened and irritated in the process.


~~~Packaging & Price~~~

Each 5.5 ounce plastic blue and purple tube of Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser may be purchased at most major discount stores, such as Wal-Mart for around $3.72. Inexpensive in price when compared to other popular name brands, this skin care product would easily fit into the budget of those that are a bit more cost conscious than others. Packaged with a "flip-top" opening, this inverted triangular shaped tube easily rests on the counter with the larger base at the bottom. Just open and squeeze the plastic tube to retrieve the desired amount of Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser from below, and then snap the lid back into place for storage.


~~~Directions for Use~~~

Wet the face first, and then using the fingertips or a damp washcloth, apply a generous amount of Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser and cleanse the skin in a gentle, circular motion. Right away with the first application, I noticed that this gritty white lotion does NOT lather well at all. So perhaps I used more of this freshly fragranced skin care product than necessary, thus resulting in my less than satisfactory experience. For once I gently exfoliated my face with this facial scrub for several days, I was left with skin that was reddened and irritated, not smooth and beautiful as advertised. To me, lather equals clean, so because there was little lather produced when I used Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser, I just could not convince myself that my face was as clean as it should be afterwards.

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Polyethylene, Witch Hazel Extract, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Lauryl Methyl Gluceth-10, Hydroxypropyldimonium Chloride, Carbomer, Glycol Distearate, Farnesol, Laureth-4, PEG-120-Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Fragrance, Lactic Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.


~~~Overall Recommendation~~~

If you have sensitive skin and are looking for a gentle yet effective facial care product to help keep your pores clean, fresh smelling Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser is not the best choice out there. While it is oil-free and contains "micro-scrubbers" that deeply clean pores without overdrying for most, this product does not lather well and left my skin reddened and irritated after just a few uses. As an alternative, I'd suggest two other products in the Clean & Clear line: Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Wash and Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer instead. Both are oil-free and contain pore cleansing salicylic acid. So to prevent breakouts by keeping your pores as clean as they can be, leave Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser on the shelf and choose something else. I certainly wish that I did!
