Since my early teenage years, I've battled oily skin and all the breakouts that come along with it. Along the way, I've tried just about every over-the-counter acne medication on the market to help clear my skin and keep pimples to a bare minimum. From those harsh 10% benzoyl peroxide formulations to facial masks and peels, I've purchased them all in hopes of finding that magical cure. Of course I'm finally learning that no such cure seems to exist, but until there is one, I'll keep trying!

While browsing the skin care aisle of my local Wal-Mart a few years ago, I happened to discover a somewhat new product my Johnson & Johnson called Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer. Because many other of the harsh acne medications marketed generally towards teenagers often cause peeling and leave my adult, combination type skin feeling too dry, I was certainly interested in purchasing a product that would help control my breakouts in a non-drying manner. So I decided to give Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer to help manage my acne problem a try. At around $3.50 for each 4 ounce bottle, the purchase price was reasonable to me.

Unfortunately for me though, I found Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer was a bit too heavy and not strong enough for facial use. The active ingredient just was not effective enough to fight my facial breakouts. However, I DID discover another use for this product instead. Because my chest area is sometimes prone to breakouts as well, I decided to try Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer once a day after showering on that part of my body and see if I saw any results. Yes! I'd finally found a product that moisturizes the tender skin on my chest as well as one that helped to prevent pimple breakouts too. And as an added bonus, both were found in one product. One simple application a day is all it takes, and I'm very satisfied with the results.

DIRECTIONS: (from side of bottle) Cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying this medicated moisturizer. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer one to three times daily. Because excessive drying of the skin can occur, start with one application of Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a physician. If bothersome drying or peeling occurs, reduce application to one a day or every other day. Use before the expiration date printed on the side of the bottle.

WARNINGS: (from side of bottle) For external use only. Using other topical acne medications at the same time or immediately following the use of this product may increase dryness or irritation of the skin. If this occurs, only one medication at a time should be used unless directed by a doctor. Avoid contact with the eyes. If such contact occurs, immediately flush with water. In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children.

And because of its inverted state (the opening is on the bottom), that last little bit of the product left in the bottle when it's almost empty is much easier to squeeze out, leaving little left to waste. This white cream has a very light yet fresh fragrance and absorbs quickly into the skin without clogging pores and without leaving a greasy residue behind.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION: If you are troubled with bothersome combination skin and need a product that both moisturizes yet controls acne breakouts as well, give Johnson & Johnson's Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer a try. You may just be pleasantly surprised with the results. And if you find that this product is ineffective for facial use as I have, then try it on other body parts prone to breakouts as well, such as the chest and back areas. It certainly works well for mine.
