| mbmattson's Full Review: Clearasil Vanishing Cream |
I have had acne since I could remember..at least 15 years
now. You would think my hormones would have calmed down
by age 27, but they have not. I am now an adult and still
get the occasional pimple on the oily zones of my face.
I thought I would grow up and grow out of my acne hell,
but I was wrong. I have tried all the powerful prescribed
drugs, like Accutane, and they do work. But the doctor
eventually takes me off of them since you cannot stay on
them forever..and the acne returns in no time.
What causes my acne? I am not sure, but I tend to get more
when I touch my face a lot or am under high stress. I
needed something that I could get at the store and it could
dry up a pimple overnight. Well, Clearasil Vanishing
Cream does the job! Sure, it looks like toothpaste all
over my skin, but it works!
When I sense that a new pimple is emerging, I cleanse my
skin thoroughly and apply the Clearasil Vanishing
Cream that night. They say the cream is 'vanishing',
but unless you put on a very light coat of it, it makes
a white crusty layer on your skin. No problem, since I
sleep with it on, but if you are going to wear it during
the day, you need to use a light touch when applying.
Clearasil Vanishing Cream has 10% benzoyl peroxide, which
is the acne killing powerhouse. The cream helps dry up
the pimples fast and prevent new ones from emerging. When
I am in desperate need in removing a pimple, I will put
a good size drop of it on the area and let it dry without
rubbing it in. Sure, it looks like I have toothpaste on
my face, but it dries the acne up like nothing else. It
flakes off during the night, but works well while one.
By morning, the pimple is dried up and less noticable and
red. It's probably not good for my skin to apply so much to
one spot, but it works wonders on a bad pimple. I have
oily skin, so the drying effect also takes away the shine
from those slick areas. This product might not work well
for someone with dry skin, since it has such a drying
effect. Also, I have noticed, that if I apply too much
on a large area, it causes a bit of redness on my skin.
I tend to just do spot treatments now.
Besides the Clearasil Vanishing Cream, there is also
a tinted cream for coverage during the day for your acne. I
have tried this before, but it's too dark for my skin. You
could see the area more promanently than without the cream
cover up. I stick to the white vanishing cream for when
I sleep.
I would recommend Clearasil Vanishing Cream to anyone
who gets occasional pimples and needs to zap them fast.
Many of my adult friends use Clearasil and it works well
for them. You can learn more about Clearasil products at:
