| tldavis36's Full Review: Clinique City Block Sheer Oil Free Daily Face Prot... |
I've never been one to use moisturizer or sunscreen because my skin used to be extremely oily. But after taking Accutane, I've been using it semi-religiously (I've vowed to use it everyday from now on).
I started using Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF15 (hereafter City Block Sheer) about a year and a half ago. I had been using Cetaphil moisturizer with SPF15, but it tends to make my skin greasy. So, I was in the market for another moisturizer with sunscreen.
I read about City Block Sheer in a magazine and decided to give it a try.
City Block Sheer comes in a 1.4 oz green tube with a silver screw on top. There's a small hole at the top of the tube to squeeze the product through. The product is a light beige cream, but it is not tinted. Clinique markets this as a sunscreen and not a moisturizer, which is good for me because I still have slightly oily skin. The only thing is that if you have any flakiness on your skin, this product will not eliminate it. It is light and absorbs quickly to a matte finish. It has a subtle coconut smell that is not offensive. You won't smell it at all once it is absorbed.
City Block Sheer is Oil Free and Fragrance Free. It also doesn't contain chemical sunscreens, which I'm beginning to believe aggravate my skin.
Ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide
Ingredients: water (aqua purificata) purified, trioctyldodecyl citrate, butylene glycol, cyclomethicone, titianium dioxide, tricaprylin, steareth-2, silica, tricaprylyl citrate, behenoxydimethicone, zinc oxide, lecithin, sorbitan tristearate, stearic acid, dimethicone, alumina, ceteth-2, peg-40 stearate, octyldodecyl neopentanoate, dimethicone copolyol, sodium phosphate, tocopheryl acetate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, steareth-20, disodium edta, pantethine, polyglyceryl-6 polyricinoleate, bisabolol, sodium stearate isopropyl titanium triisostearate, silver borosilicate, barium sulfate, xanthan gum, magnesium aluminum silicate, bht, iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499).
Clinique says (taken from their website):
Invisible protection for all skin tones and types from everyday encounters with the sun's UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays, plus environmental aggressors that can, in time, damage skin. Comfortable, ultra-sheer formula uses only physical sunscreens, so even the most sensitive skins can wear it daily, under makeup or alone. Looks fresh, natural, non-ashy. Helps makeup wear longer, stay colour-true.
I have found all of these claims to be true. This is a great product.
City Block Sheer also comes in Shimmers and Tints that sell for $15.50 for a 1.4 oz tube. The Shimmer colors are Bronze and Golden. The Tint colors are: Light-to-Medium and Medium-to-Dark.
In keeping with my summer of trying new products, I decided to try Oil of Olay's moisturizer with SPF15 for combination skin. Big mistake. Can you say zits? Anyway, I've decided to never stray again.
I highly recommend this product.
If you're the type who doesn't like wearing sunscreen, this may the one that changes your mind.
