Many moons ago when I was a newly married working girl, living in New York, every beauty product I used was Clinique. Now that I’ve “taken early retirement” :) to stay home with our son, every beauty product I use is either a Clinique product that has lasted since the working girl days, or otherwise it’s a product sold at my local supermarket!

One Clinique product that has lasted me at least 3 years is a bottle of their clarifying lotion. Obviously I don’t use it every day anymore but it is a wonderful product that deserves some explanation:

Description of Clinique Clarifying Lotion

(1) Clinique regulars will know that this cosmetics manufacturer has a three-step skincare system that includes their facial soap, clarifying lotion and dramatically different moisturizer. There are three strengths of soap and clarifying lotion, and consultation with a Clinique Sales Associate will enable you to know which soap and lotion are for you. I personally used the mild facial soap and clarifying lotion number 2- my skin is combination with a tendency to be more oily than dry.

(2) The Clarifying lotion is sold in two sizes: I have always purchased the larger size – 13.5 fluid ounces – for approximately $16. I believe the smaller size is 9 fluid ounces and costs approximately $12.

(3) The clarifying lotion comes in a clear plastic bottle with silver and white lettering and the traditional “Clinique green” top. The lotion is 100% fragrance free and has been allergy tested by the manufacturer.

(4) Directions for use:

When I used all of Clinique’s three-step products, each evening I would wash my face with their soap and then apply Clarifying Lotion 2 to my face and neck with balls of cotton wool. I would then apply the dramatically different moisturizer.

These days I use the clarifying lotion every now and then when I feel my face needs to be freshened up. The effects of the lotion include exfoliation of the skin and removal of dirt and debris. You really feel clean after you have used this product!

In Conclusion .....

I am no longer a regular user of Clinique products but I think they are excellent – both in quality and value for money. The Clarifying Lotion could not be better named – it does as it says! The most important point is to consult with a sales associate before you purchase these type of products so that you get the correct strength for your skin type. After that it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
