Clinique isn’t normally a brand I buy for myself. Even though it is very good, it is also very pricey. I find that I can usually get the same results with something a little less expensive. I got this lotion from my Mom because she didn’t too much care for it. So, we decided to swap lotions. I gave her my trusty Nivea and she gave me the Clinique Cool Lustre Body Moisture.
As much as I love my Nivea, it is a bit heavy for humid summer days. It tends to leave my skin all slick and sweaty, especially if I go outside. Now that I’ve moved south to the Sunshine State, I need a lighter lotion for most of the year. My skin just doesn’t get as dry in warmer climes. Cool Lustre Body Moisture has turned out to be the prefect solution.
The pale turquoise lotion is light, fresh and cool, like a caressing summer breeze. It glides on smoothly, almost like silk, and absorbs easily for a refreshingly clean finish. It never leaves me feeling greasy or sticky after I’ve applied it. Also, I have sensitive skin and it has never bothered me a bit.
It comes in a 6.7 Fl. Oz./200 ml squeeze tube. Though it is set up to squirt out of the tube, it more pours, which can take a little getting used to. The tubes states that it is %100 fragrance free, which just means there wasn’t any perfume or scent added. However, it has a very distinct, ‘clean’ smell with perhaps a hint of mint. It is rather pleasant and very fitting. I don’t know what the price of the product is because it was given to me, yet Clinique’s website lists it as $17.50.
Another thing I really like about this Cool Lustre lotion (and forgive me if this sounds a little inane) is the sparklies! You can’t actually see the sparkles in the lotion, so it took me forever to figure out why my toes and fingers were sparkly (for some reason I only noticed it there at first). Though the lotion itself is light blue-green in colour, it leaves behind almost orange or flesh coloured sparkles. Don’t quote me on this, but I believe that it comes from the Mica listed in the ingredients.
The only reason I don’t rate this lotion a perfect five stars is because it doesn’t always moisturizer that well. There have been occasions it doesn’t last all day; meaning, dry patches would reappear. Those are the times I’m already extra dry from all the swimming I’m doing down here. Since it’s a summer lotion, that’s okay. To me, the fact that it’s so light and refreshing outweighs that it isn’t the best moisturizer. On hot and humid days I’d rather reapply later in the day than spend the first few hours all greasy.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed the experience of this Cool Lustre Body Moisture. Would I purchase it for myself? Well, probably not any time soon. Though, when I really feel the need to spoil myself, I just might slip into my local department store and indulge my womanly whims. After all, a girl’s gotta pamper herself every now and then, doesn’t she? ;)
For those that are interested, here is a list of the ingredients straight off the tube (have fun trying to pronounce most of them):
water (aqua purificata) purified . cyclomethicone . aloe vera (aloe barbadensis) gel . butylenes glycoldimethicone . polyacrylamide . sucrose cocate . c13-14 isoparaffin . polysorbate 40 . laureth-7 . grapefruit California (citrus grandis) . sodium hyaluronate . polysolocone-11 . spearmint (mentha viridis) . lemon (citrus limonum) california . petrolatum . methyldihydrojasmonnia . disodium edta . phenoxyethanol . methylparaben . ethylparaben . propylparaben . butylparaben . isobutylparaben . mica . titanium dioxide (ci77891) . blue 1 (ci42090) . yellow 5 (co19140) [iln12318]
Now that’s all quite a mouthful! ;)
Tip: For a real treat, you should try it after it’s been cooling in the fridge!
