After receiving one of those complimentary make-overs at the Clinique counter that make you wonder how someone completely inept at make-up was allowed to weild a blush brush...
my thoughts turned to my suddenly less-than-perfect skin which had cropped up right after the winter months. I got a free lipstick out of the endeavor, and also some advice from said make-up artist who had clearly memorized a handful of Clinique facts.
"We're number one in skin products," she proudly told me. So I thought, "Why not?"
I already loved the Buttershine Lipstick I'd gotten, as well as the new one that came with this disaster, and while pondering what would actually be worth my money, I noticed that the Dramatically Different Moisturizer always seemed to be the product they put into those Gift With Purchases I kept meaning to pick up.
So I bought the cheapest bottle they had - 15 dollars Canadian for 50ml and took it home.
First I got rid of everything else with a cleanser, and then applied the cream itself.
It goes on very, very cool - very nice to the touch, and only requires a small dollup, otherwise it can be messy and overdone.
I rubbed it between my palms and then applied it - again, very nice and soothing on my face.
I let it naturally sink in and about ten minutes later, my face felt taught - not in a bad way, but rather as if something was holding it up a little bit better.
More than that, my skin really did feel smoother to the touch, softer and it looked better.
I'm not saying this is a miracle cream, but what's nice about it is how transluscent it seems to go on. It's not cakey like some moisturizers can be, and after about a minute, you're not all that aware that you have it on - it feels like it sinks into your skin rather than just covering it - if applied sparingly.
And most importantly, it didn't aggrivate any occasional pimples I might have.
Is it necessarily worth the cost? Not if you can't spare it, but if you can - the little bit of comfort and soothing that it offers at least makes it a pleasant and quick morning routine.
