| jodynu3's Full Review: Clinique Instant Energy Body Wash 6.7 oz/200 ml |
I received the Clinique Instant Energy Body Wash as a gift from my parents for Christmas this year. My parents thought that it would be a cute gift because in January I was starting an internship where I would be working 8:30 - 5 everyday and I am NOT a morning person. My mom commented that they weren't sure about the scent at first - they thought it was a bit strange - but the Clinique employee had assured them that the scent was necessary for the instant energy benefits!
THE PRODUCT
The Clinique Instant Energy Body Wash comes in a stand up 6.7 fl. oz. tube that will set you back $17.50 . . . yikes! The tube is clear so that you can see the teal liquid and monitor how much you have left. The tube is also great for travel and does not leak.
MY EXPERIENCE
I use a dime sized glob of the body wash on a loofah sponge which washes my whole body. The gel is a teal green color and has a bit of sparkle to it. I have noticed that this gel is thicker than other body washes I have used and I think a little bit of product goes much longer than other body washes. I am sure that this 6.7 fl. oz. tube will last a very long time. The body wash lathers well so there were no problems with the actual gel itself. It rinses clean with no residue.
The Crest Factor
The scent, however, I could not stand! It's a very strong minty bubblegum/toothpaste smell that just was not something I would want me or my body to smell like. Is it energizing? To an extent yes. It is the type of scent that demands your attention and may keep you alert while you are in the shower. But for me, the "energizing" benefits just aren't worth me dealing with the scent.
I have tried all kinds of body wash scents from florals to perfume scents to sweet vanilla and even citrus smells. Unfortunately, this smell was just not for me. I felt like I was washing my body with my toothpaste, which just wasn't the best feeling! Everyone has their own personal preference though - I would recommend smelling the scent before you buy and maybe avoiding this one for a gift!
Fortunately the scent does not last post-shower. I do not have to walk around all day smelling like toothpaste. So, if you do like the scent - this product may be for you. It will jump start your morning with that strong minty scent, but you won't have to walk around all day smelling like it!
THE BOTTOM LINE
The Clinique Instant Energy Body Wash was OK in my opinion. It lathered fine and left no residue, but I didn't feel that it was as moisturizing as other body washes that I have used in the past. Additionally, I despised the scent. For $17.50, I expect something spectacular for a body wash! I simply did not feel that this was the case.
Unfortunately, this bottle has been retired to my cabinet and I'm no longer using it daily. I'm rating this body wash about 2 1/2 - 3 stars because I feel that this particular body wash just is not worth the expensive price. I also feel that the smell is too strong and I really disliked it. However, others may feel differently.
