| tiasmom's Full Review: Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara |
You won’t find a Clinique counter in drug stores or department stores like Wal*mart or K-mart. It doesn’t come with the price tag of brands like Cover Girl or Maybelline either. What you’ll find at the Clinique counter are pricey products in fancy packages. Many of them are very mild and gentle enough for sensitive skin. In short, the products are not bad. Although I didn’t particularly care for their rinse-off exfoliator (too greasy), or their stay-the-day eye shadow (too invisible), there are worse products out there.
An Overview Of Clinique naturally glossy mascara
It’s soft on the lashes, not at all clumpy, and contains beeswax. There is enough texture and pigment that it makes your lashes “pop”. It’s average and middle of the road, neither the best nor anywhere near the worst one I’ve tried. It looks natural and not overly done.
Packaging
naturally glossy mascara comes in a silver metal tube containing .2 oz. of mascara. The wand is straight and very soft.
Miscellaneous Information
It’s allergy tested, 100% fragrance free and opthalmologist tested. The shade I have is jet brown. There are only two shades, brown or black. It would be nice if it were waterproof. But even though it’s not, it’s not easily smudged or runny. It won’t automatically run down your face when wet, but if rubbed while wet, it will smudge and look raccoon-like. It’s easily removed with my oil free liquid remover. It’s actually easier to remove than most mascaras I’ve tried.
Negatives
The only real minus is the price. At $9 per tube ($11 in most stores), I paid much more than I would for the average mascara. I wondered how it would compare to my favorite mascara in my makeup case, Mayebelline’s Full & Soft. I put naturally glossy on one eye, Full & Soft on the other. I could detect no difference. But the Maybelline is waterproof, which I prefer.
Last Thoughts
Because I could not tell the difference between the two (they even have similar tubes), I can’t see paying the extra money. I can think of nothing to justify the higher price, not even the cute little pink, yellow and green box it comes in. Because of this, I’ll stick to my drug store brands in this case.
