The Bottom Line: The instant pore perfect left a soft, silky matte finish on my skin for improved foundation application.

As much as I love my mother, my genes have cursed me with large pores and combination-oily skin. I've tried tons of products on the market, most of which made empty promises and gave me unimpressive results. It wasn't until the day of my Clinique spree when the sales consultant left me with some free products with my purchase, one of which being their Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector.
About Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
This product comes packaged in a lavender, 0.5 fl. oz tube with a green cap. The opening of the tube is a tiny pinhole that allows a tiny amount of product out at a time.
This Instant Perfector comes in two shades: Invisible Light, for lighter skin tones, and Invisible dark, for darker skin tones. The consistency of this odorless product is somewhat like butter that dries to a soft, matte finish.
For review purposes, I'll be discussing the Invisible Light shade.
Doesn't have the Spackle-feel
I know you're probably thinking, "Fills in pores? It's probably like Spackle!" That's what I expected as my first experience, but to be honest, it was the exact opposite.
When I first tried this, it was in a sealed sample given to me by the Clinique Consultant (later I went out to buy a full tube because I ended up really liking this product). I opened the opaque blister pack and discovered this product was different from what I expected. It was more of a creamy, buttery consistency that felt quite soft and silky when rubbed between the fingers and almost instantly disappeared.
When I applied this to my face, I used it only on the areas where pores were most visible which meant the apples of my cheeks, my nose, part of my T-zone, and a little bit of my chin. I applied the product in a circular motion and while it didn't exactly "fill in" my pores and hide them, it did leave my skin with a soft, matte finish which made foundation application amazingly easier than without it. Another thing about this product is it's lightweight and pretty much disappears into your skin, not affecting the color of your foundation.
However, throughout the day, I did notice that my skin was much less shiny in those areas. There was still a subtle sheen, but nothing that could be fixed by patting the areas with a kleenex and finishing with a light application of powder. (These results though could be because during the winter, I'm less prone to be really oily and also because my foundation is meant to last long. So it's hard to say this product actually did lessen the shine on my face.)
While they don't say this product will instantly hide pores or make them smaller, it did say it would "refine" them, a term that's rather vague. It made them look a little less apparent if that's what they mean by refine. It looked even better the next time I applied the Instant Perfector when I used upward strokes instead of circular strokes.
Without Foundation
If you're the type of girl who wants a low-maintenance makeup routine in the morning, but still want that "finished look," this would be a great place to start. This product leaves a matte finish on your skin while letting your natural color shine through. Definitely for one of those days you want to look like you have a little makeup on, but you didn't really apply makeup at all.
Overall
In the end, this product helped lessen the shine on my face and made foundation application easier than it already was before using this product. You might think when you first get this product that a mere .5 fl. oz. won't last you throughout summer, think again. You really only use a tiny, tiny amount in application so this product is definitely worth the price.
