justcuriouss's Full Review: Clinique Superdefense Age Defense Moisturizer SPF ...
With my first paycheck as a college graduate, I wanted to invest in wrinkle prevention (I'm 24) and a moisturizer that wouldn't cause breakouts on my combination skin. I've experimented with many brands, but I ended up having to use two products; one for my oily T-zone, and another for the rest of my face. Also, its rare to find moisturizers that have SPF, especially ones that would not clog my pores. After looking up reviews, I stumbled to my local clinique cosmetics counter, and spoke with the sales associate who suggested the oil-free version, which is for comination oily to oily skin. The product boasts that it provides 25 spf uva/uvb protection, moisturization at the cellular level and antioxidants to defend the skin against free radicals.
I bought this lotion and recieved the 3 step system as a sample, which I've been using, so you have to take that into consideration with my review.
The lotion is white and very thick, a little goes a long way. The only fragrance it has is that "SPF" smell, I don't know how to describe it other than sunscreen minace the coconutty fragrance. If you use too much it can cause your face to look oily, so start small! My face felt very moisturized, and proved to work great under my foundation. I did at times use powder to reduce shine, however considering the moisturizer lasts all day, and the actual jar of moisturizer seems to last forever, it doesn't bother me! I haven't experienced any new breakouts, which seems like a miricle, as almost any moisturizer seems to cause blemishes on my chin. My complexion looks beautiful -- as I mentioned in my clarifying lotion review, I took pictures makeupless while carving a pumpkin with my boyfriend and actually put them up on facebook for the world to see, and my skin looked fantastic. I've never had a sunburn on my face since I started using this product, and my freckles have become much less notible, possibly because of this (that and its fall and I'm spending more time indoors). My skin seems a little more "plump," - the minimal wrinkles in my laughline and eyes are less noticable.
This product provides protection from the sun, and long-lasting and ample moisturization without breakouts. It also lasts a long, long time as the moisturizer has such a thick consistency. The only complaints I have are the price ($42) and the sunscreen smell, but considering clinique does not add fragrances, I feel I can't really hold that against them! If I ever went back to my Oil free Oil of Olay SPF moisturizer, it would probably be because of the cost!
