| purdey99's Full Review: Clinique Turnaround Cream |
I tried Clinique skincare a few years ago and did not like it, I heard so many good things about this product that I knew I should give it a shot. I can't use their 3 Step System of soap, Clarifying Lotion, and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion because of the different acne medications I've been on such as Benzamycin (soap is too drying) and Retin-A (My face looked like a warzone after burning my face off with the toner.) The first two steps are way too harsh for my skin, and the moisturizer makes me break out (do YOU think Mineral Oil is good for your skin?). Now don't get me wrong, I think Clinique has some fine products, it's just that I can't use them. I have a friend who swears by Clinique and would never dream of using anything else, which is why I decided to purchase this product.
I approached Clinique searching for an AHA product that actually works. I had tried one from L'Oreal and was not impressed, which was disappointing because I've been happy with most of their skincare products. Anyway, the man at the Clinique counter really seemed to know his stuff and was adept at determining my skin type and needs. I decided to buy just the cream to try first.
My skin is not sensitive, but is acne prone. I try and avoid stripping cleansers and toners because I find that cooperating with my skin is much easier than fighting it constantly. I don't want a product that wants to radically overhaul the natural cycle of my skin, and Turnaround cream was successful in that. It gently exfoliated my skin at night, allowing me to rotate between my Benzamycin and the AHA cream every other evening.
The active ingredient that makes the product an AHA-type product is salicylic acid, the same stuff used in acne medication.
Clinique also has a version of this for dry skin, but I've heard that there are few differences between the two. I've never tried it, so see your local department store or http://www.clinique.com for ingredients and usage instructions.
One further hint: Try stock ahead of time when they're having their Gift-with-Purchase specials. These are always great opportunities to get to try products at no cost! However, I do not suggest trying to buy NEW products at this time, because the Sales Associates are usually completely swamped with customers. They do work on commission in cosmetics in EVERY major department store so your sale is valuable, but if you're not going to spend a major amount, you won't get personal attention. Try slow times like Monday evenings when they can dedicate time to your experimentation :o)
