Pros: easy to use, very durable, looks great, gives us very crisp/clean water
We needed to buy a new Brita after the lid on our old one broke, and it got left at the back of the refrigerator for far too long. Perusing the selection at Target, we came across the Chrome model of the Brita Pitcher. The Chrome Brita is a pitcher that doubles as a water filtration system, geared towards providing crisp clean water that is tasty to drink. The idea is to remove chlorine, mercury, lead, and other negative contaminants that can not only harm your health, but make your water taste bad. Brita has a large line of water filtration products that help to fight against bad-tasting water, and this is one of their flashier models. It is sold at a number of different department stores, and is usually close to $20.00 (give or take a few depending on a sale). This one ended up really being worth the price, because it has performed brilliantly, and given us some great tasting water.
The Chrome Model of the Brita Water Filtration System, is what they call a Smart Pitcher, which has an electronic filter change indicator. This is on the front top of the lid, and denotes how long that the filter in the pitcher has to go before it needs changed out. The filter itself is the typical Brita brand, which can be found anywhere that Brita products are sold, and can be installed in a matter of moments. The filter has to be soaked in a glass of water for around 15 minutes before the first use to insure it works perfectly, but then it is as easy as inserting the filter into the reservoir of the pitcher. Once that is done, you fill the top part of the pitcher with water all the way to the top, and then replace the nice chrome lid on top of the Brita. The water will slowly work its way down through the Brita filter, removing nearly all of the stuff that is bad for you, and resulting in nice drinkable water. Each one of the filters is said to last about 2 months, or about 40 gallons of filtered water.
The first thing that I noticed with this newer Brita pitcher, is that it tends to keep the water colder than out last Brita. It is probably because of the chrome lid, but it seems to keep the water colder than typical. It also works brilliantly with the little spout that tips up from the end of the lid, and allows the pitcher to give a perfect pour into whatever type of glass you are using. At the back of the pitcher is a nice thick (and sturdy) handle that you can use to hold the whole pitcher safely, and at the top is a little lever that pushes back the lid when you want to put more water in the filter. It is very easy to use, and even though it is a little heavy when you have it filled with water, the handle remains quite sturdy. The elongated build of the pitcher also makes it easy to slip into the refrigerator, and it's really handy when you are limited on space. Not only that, but the chrome finish makes it look even nicer in the fridge, and helps it to stand out from your other contents.
This has really been a great purchase, because we are really enjoying this new Chrome Brita Pitcher. The Smart technology with the lid works well when it comes to changing the filters, and because of the build of the pitcher, it is extremely easy to pour with very little effort. The chrome might need to be wiped down every now and then, because when it is cold it reveals finger prints, but other than that, this is a self-sustaining little product that has made drinking water much easier in our house. Having healthier water that tastes great and gets cold fast is a great thing for our house, and the Brita can hold up to 64 ounces of water for us to enjoy. I really cannot say enough about how well this Brita has worked for us, and it has been worth every penny that we spent on it. You cannot really put a price on drinking clean water, and this Brita makes the process so easy that we have been drinking much more water now.
