| dfbfloyd's Full Review: Club Quarters in San Francisco |
It's possible that I don't understand the intrigue of this place but I was not impressed with the Club Quarters set up. My room felt like I was sleeping in my office. The room was small and didnt have much of a luxurious feel to it. The TV was small and positioned all the way across the room from the bed. Without the air conditioner unit on, you can hear everything outside the room. Apparently the guy next to me didn't have is on because he pounded on my wall which I assume was because my TV was too loud at 11 out of 35. No problem, I turned off my air conditioner so I could hear it and not wake him or her. However, this is when I realized you can hear everything in the hallways.
I didn't like the fact that the only ice machine is located on the bottom floor. Also if you need extra pillows, an iron or ironing board you will find them in a shared closet in the hallway. I tend to like those things being in my room or at least only a phone call away. However, they did have bottles for patrons to dispense their own bottled water.
The view was of a dirty alley so I kept the curtains shut. The bed was not overly comfortable but worked out alright. The people staying in the hotel came across extremely stuffy. I guess that's the nature of the beast with the hotel being located in the heart of the financial district. Not my type of crowd.
I thought the restaurant Elephant and Castle was very good. The staff was pleasant and the food was excellent. I didn't realize it was part of the hotel until my last day. It feels like it is a separate establishment.
If you rent a car be careful of the parking around the Club Quarters. There are two parking garages and one of them closes so you cannot get your car until the next business day. Driving around San Francisco is difficult because many of the roads are not well marked and you can only turn at certain intersections. The area around the hotel is nice and it's within walking distance of most things.
This hotel is extremely environmentally conscious which is good to see. However, the fluorescent bulbs make for poor ambiance. Overall the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly but I probably wouldn't stay there again.
