| modernmarvel's Full Review: Clutch Cube Phase 2 |
We got this Clutch Cube as a gift for our baby when she was 6 months old. We have been putting it in front of her for three months now but she has not really shown much interest in it. Compared to many other toys, this one really got almost the least amount of interest.
WHAT YOU GET
The main part of the toy is a cube. Each of the six faces of the cube have either a pattern or a picture. Two sides have black and white patterns which are supposed to appeal to smaller babies. Once side has a butterfly. Another side has a ladybug. Two of the sides have patterns. One of the sides has a flap that, when lifted, reveals a black and white panda. As I remember from the packaging, the toy is supposed to have a scent although I never noticed one.
The edges of the cube have loops or handles for baby to grasp the cube. These handles are also made of fabric and are soft and flexible. One of the handles has two plastic rings that click together for some noise. Baby can grasp the rings easily and the handles also can fit in baby's tiny hands.
If you shake the cube, it makes a bell sound that is pleasant and not too loud.
According to the tag, the cube is surface wash only. Our cube hasn't seen a lot of action so it hasn't been washed yet. However, some of the fabric looks like felt and it doesn't look like it would wash well.
OUR EXPERIENCE
I like toys made by lamaze and have found that my kids generally liked them. This toy was a gift for baby. We first gave it to her at six months and she showed some mild interest if we played with it together. However, there were many more toys that she liked more. If the clutch cube is in her playpen, she never reaches for it on her own. Even at nine months, she never shows independent interest in this toy.
We have other toys similar to this one that our baby has liked better. She loves looking at eyes and is drawn to them on her stuffed animals. She also loves sounds and especially the crinkle noise that some toys make. Even though this toys makes a bell sound, she doesn't seem to like it as much as other toys. Our baby loves anything that she can teeth on. Except for the plastic rings, this toy doesn't have any hard surfaces for teething.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
This toy is just a dud for us. Although it has a nice design, we simply can't get baby interested in it.
