Pros: a good value with nice features
Cons: won't mount on the dash because the velcro don't stick to it
The Bottom Line: A reasonably priced better that offers more features than others at the same price. Worth it? I thinks so.

| jlacson's Full Review: Cobra Electronics ESD 9000 Radar Detector |
Update February 2001.
I notice that this radar is more effective if PROPERLY MOUNTED. Try to raise it at least a couple of inches above the top edge of the wiper and make sure it is PARALLEL to the ground (not pointing up or down). It has to be almost perfectly parallel. Since I remounted it, it is now working better than ever.
I bought the Cobra 9000 on ebay for $60. Overall, it is a good value, offers good features for a low price. I had it for about a year now and still works great.
Likes:
I can control the sound level and sensitivity like most other detectors.
It has 9 band which is more than others with the same price.
It will complement your cockpit since the design is sleek.
Different colored LED.
Everytime the "Ka" band goes on, about 90% of the time, it's a cop.
Affordable.
Offers a few mounting options. It comes with a bracket which you can adjust or mount it into the dashboard but the sticker velcro does not adhere well.
Dislikes:
I get too many "X" radar which presumably as false alarms.
It has emergency vehicles alert but by the time the Cobra picks up the signal, you will hear the siren by then and have a visual of the ambulance or firetruck which is likely to be in front of you.
The casing shows some fade due to sun exposure. I coated it with Armorall protectant and it looks good again and did not notice and new "fading".
