| speedbird0001's Full Review: Cobra Electronics ESD 9110 Radar Detector |
I bought this radar detector at Circuit City for $99.99, then got a $10 mail in rebate. Setup on the windshield of my Saab was VERY simple. The suction cups and bracket work quite well, and everything feels like it's of solid construction. The plug goes into the cigarette lighter. That's the major problem I have--the plug doesn't really stick in the lighter outlet, it sort of falls out every once in awhile. Once I took it out on the road, I found the general performance to be good. It picked up most every squad car I passed, from a reasonable distance back. The different other features included work decent. The "Intellimute" feature is supposed to mute alerts when the engine RPM is below a certain level that you set. This is a neat feature and works quite well. Keep in mind though; low RPM doesn't necessarily mean low speed. I found this and the other features (city/highway modes, safety alert, strobe alert, etc) to work as advertised. Overall, this is a good detector that works pretty much as advertised and presents a good value for the money.
