thief_2's Full Review: Cobra Electronics microTALK LI5600-2dx (14 Channel...
I bought this radio after a radio shack unit broke. You can get it for very cheap, a pair on e-Bay for $30 or under. It is another discontinued model, but there are a lot of them around. One piece of advice, don't get it wet! I was out kayaking with it, and my brother dropped it in the lake! It transmitted a pathetic electronic noise until I took the batteries out and drained it. It is not very water-resistant. People have said in other reviews (on other Web Sites) that it is fragile? Well, after mine has weathered being dropped twenty times or more, and still working, I think it is a relatively sturdy unit. The only downside to this lovely unit, is the lack of features. I live in the country, but the two channels (8 and 12) are still sometimes busy. If you are in the city or a mall, or really any high-use area, this is not the radio for you. I like the Microtalk 2. It has a nice load of features, but can be pricey. Overall though, a great little unit
