Recently my mother-in-law purchased two sets (4) of the Cobra MicroTALK 2-way radios for my family (my husband, me, my pre-teen son and daughter). She got the idea from my brother who has them for his family.
We use them when we go to shopping to keep in communications if everyone would like to go in different directions. When I go to a store and my son loves to go to electronics or to the toy department and stay there while I do my shopping. In the past I use to have to make several trips across the store to check on him which ended up causing me to forget 1/2 of my shopping list. Once in Wal-mart's, my son went to the toy department and I went the other direction. Well I ended up taking longer to go check on him and he got worried, so he left the toy area and went looking for me down the back aisle of the store and I was on my way to toys up the front aisle of the store. Well you can image when I arrived at toys and could not find my son my heart sank to my stomach and I panicked. I spent approx.15 minutes circling Wal-mart's and my son was circling the store at the same time and we were missing each other. So I proceeded to Customer Service to request assistance or a "Code Adam" and while the manager was getting my information, luckily my son found me. I hugged him and started to cry and my son told me he was scared because he could not find me. Now my family have the ability to keep in communications with each other.
I love this communication system that we now have in our family and I am very greatful to my in-laws for the gifts. I would recommend this radio to anyone who has children and they are great for road trips when traveling with more than one vehicle. My son will start Jr-High school this year and he will either have to ride his bike or walk to school, but I will be able to locate him easier now and I feel safer now allowing my children the independence when we go out.
