plweeks's Full Review: Cobra microTALK LI 7200-2 WX VP (14 Channels) Two ...
I have owned the a pair of the Microtalk 2 radios for nearly 2 years. I have used them for cross country skiing, hunting, shopping, driving in the car, and hiking. The range varies based on the terrain and the interference, but I have gotten up to the 2 mile advertised range on many occasions.
The battery life is about 16 hours if left on continuously. The units will start to lose signal and the call feature will not function properly before the batteries are completely dead, so you have some warning. The display shows battery condition, but you should check the conditions of the battery during transmit mode. The batteries are a bit difficult to change with the belt clip installed, since it must be removed first. It requires some manual dexterity and strong fingers to remove the belt clip.
The fold down antenna and the button lock make the units well suited for carrying in your pocket. The call feature allows you to alert the person be called so that they can retrieve their radio from their pocket before you start to talk.
The LCD indicator has clear, easily read displays. I did find that the plastic LCD display cover can be easily clouded if carried in a pocket with other hard objects such as keys.
