I have tried FRS radios from Cobra, Motorola and Panasonic. Cobra was the weakest of the pack.
The best example I can think of is that I have sold models from all three manufacturers to a construction company. Cobra was the hands-down loser; it just didn't stand up to the abuse. Considering that FRS radios are marketed towards those participating in outdoor activities, that must be a consideration for many buyers. In addition, it is not even slightly water resistant.
Another big complaint is that it uses four AAA batteries, which die after less than 16 hours of use.
As for signal quality, ease of use and portability, this unit gets very good marks. However, if --as I do-- you tend to be hard on your outdoor equipment, I recommend shopping around.
