| welleducated's Full Review: Coffee Mate Cinnamon Vanilla Liquid Creamer 50 Ct |
You will eventually notice that I am a big fan of most of the Coffee-Mate flavors by Nestle. So far, there is only one I eschew - Hazelnut. Blech! I know lots of people love the flavor, but my taste buds find it very disappointing. That being said...
Cinnamon Vanilla Creme is a truly delightful flavor. Eggnog is my favorite. I buy it in droves before it's out of season. The Cinnamon Vanilla Creme is my back up when the eggnog is out of season. What I like in these two creamers is all the cinnamon yumminess. Nestle goes whole hog in its spices. When you flip the lid, you get a strong waft of each of the flavors. Yes, this translates into a robust flavor in your coffee.
The Coffee-Mate is very creamy. I mention in my review of the Original flavor that I like the Coffee-Mate because it helps me satisfy my cravings for milk. I'm allergic to dairy and, yes, soy is even worse. Still, I love that creamy taste and Coffee-Mate Cinnamon Vanilla Creme allows me to satisfy those cravings without all the yucky, digestive side effects. Better still, it is low in calories, fat and carbohydrates. That makes it a superior alternative to milk and soy while I am trying to lose the weight medication made me put on.
I prefer the Cinnamon Vanilla Creme to French Vanilla. The taste is richer and bolder. The French Vanilla is nice, but it doesn't *pop*. The Cinnamon Vanilla Creme adds a lot of pizazz to your coffee. If you've read my reviews on teas, you'll realize I also like to add it to black tea. It is great with Earl Grey, Chai Tea and coffee. My current favorite is to add Cinnamon Vanilla Creme to Millstone Chocolate Velvet coffee. Yes, I am one of those dorks that orders multiple shots of flavor to my coffee and I do that because IT TASTES GREAT! :)
With the regular (NOT FAT FREE!) Cinnamon Vanilla Creme, you can make a great cappuccino! It froths up wonderfully. I use two methods and both work great. I heat the creamer for 20 seconds (it heats quickly!) in the microwave. I used to use an electric frother (like an egg beater) and the creamer would fluff up to 4 times the height. It made an *excellent* cup of fluffy cappuccino. Yes, I have a GIGANTIC mug I drink it from - lol! :) I also will sprinkle nutmeg and allspice on the foam, which gives it a flavor closer to eggnog. When my electric frother broke - hey, I used it every day! - I went back to a hand held frother. It's like a tall glass vial with a sieve that you push up and down. It even froths great with this - to about 3 times the size. A lot depends on not overheating the creamer, as the hotter it gets, the thinner it gets. The creamer will always froth better when it is thicker. So, make it warm, but try not to let it boil.
Cinnamon Vanilla Creme is also a perfect flavor for iced tea, chai and coffee. In the Arizona heat, having an iced version is key to happiness! ;-) Hey, it's March and 80 degrees already! I got my last roommate addicted on Coffee-Mate frozen coffees. I make the coffee extra strong, fill a blender with ice, fill the coffee to the top of the ice, add about a half cup or so of creamer and blend it up. Much cheaper and healthier than the Starbucks Frappuccino! :^) Yup, this same method is perfect with chai and black tea as well!
Because the flavor of the Cinnamon Vanilla Creme is so strong, I often cut the calories and the carbohydrates by adding half Cinnamon Vanilla Creme and half Original flavor. The Original flavor has even less calories. I recommend any version of it. They all taste great and they only have 10-20 calories a serving! As you can imagine, that makes it easy to drink a frothy treat with a lot less guilt. When watching my calories, I believe the way to success is to satisfy cravings with healthy options. Coffee-Mate's Cinnamon Vanilla Creme fits that bill because it smacks of vanilla bean ice cream sprinkled with cinnamon. Yum! :)
Coffee-Mate Cinammon Vanilla Creme is non-dairy and gluten-free. It has 0 g trans fat and saturated fat per serving. You can get it in a fat-free variety, which does not froth up as creamy, but tastes just as fabulous.
I read recently that someone felt every reviewer should be able to find a downside about a product. In the spirit of that, the one thing that bothers me about my Coffee-Mate is that the Coffee-Mate will dry on the spout. This means I can sometimes get clumps of creamer falling into my drink. No biggie, but it looks gross, right? Well, I have taken to simply unscrewing the cap to pour my creamer. It only takes 3 turns and it's off. Plus, the flip top is pretty firm, so me and my carpal tunnel wrist actually find that it is easier to turn it than push the flip top open.
