Coffee. The nectar of the gods.
Being a coffee junkie isnt always easy. First you have to make the choice of buying ground coffee or beans then there are all the different flavors and blends to work through. Having the right kind of coffee maker is essential as well as filters, the type of water and keeping the carafe clean. I doubt most people give their morning coffee a lot of thought; the toss in the grinds, pour in the water and flip the switch. Yes, I used to do that until I started thinking about the quality of the coffee I was consuming. Mine used to turn to mud after a few hours on the heating element, that was before I started using an insulated carafe to store it in. No, I wasnt all that picky about my coffee but now, well, now I am a snob about it. No longer do I reach into the drawer, pull out a spoon and start doling in the grind until it looks like its the right amount. Now I use my handy dandy Cuisipro Coffee Scoop to make sure Im going to get a well brewed pot of java that isnt too strong or too weak.
Cuisipro 2 Tablespoon Coffee Scoop
Make from stainless steel, this polished coffee scoop can make the difference between an average pot of coffee and one that you will really enjoy. Now, I know that most people arent going to go to this length to get a great pot of coffee and I completely understand. I too was like you, needing a pick me up in the morning or afternoon, not caring about the little things. I had a small coffee scoop but I think it got tossed out when I pitched the empty can, in a way that was a good thing. It forced me to use regular teaspoons and tablespoons to make my coffee and tea ... and that made me rethink how I was doing things. When I was at a neighbors house and was offered some coffee I couldnt resist but hers tasted so much better than mine. It wasnt bitter or over powering, it was [hanging my head in shame], some of the best coffee I ever had. But I couldnt figure out what the secret was - she was using the same coffee as me, same filters, tap water ... but for some odd reason, it didnt taste like swill. I never thought my coffee was bad or tasted offensive until I had hers.
After a few weeks I stopped by again and was offered another cup of java. I watched her intently and then it dawned on me - it was the damn scooper. She let out a hearty laugh when I figured out her little secret but she softened the blow by handing me one of these, still neatly packaged in cardboard and plastic. That should have been a tip off that these things dont stay around very long, why else would she have a spare laying around? When I picked up two of them online to qualify for free shipping I figured I would have a spare at home and take one to the shop. Stupid me, the shop has some sort of mysterious item sucking vortex to it where things inevitably disappear without rhyme or reason. I cant blame people for stealing them, they look great, allow you to make the perfect pot of coffee and has a handy dandy hole on the back end of it so you can hang it up [or tie it down]. This will fit inside most coffee canisters or containers so its a great place to stash it so it doesnt disappear.
Price
The first one was a gift but the others that I purchased were $3.75 a piece - now I know what you are thinking, That is a hell of a lot of money for a freaking coffee scoop. Well, it is but it gives you an accurate measurement, is better than using a teaspoon or tablespoon and looks great no matter how much you use it. The design of it is interesting and I would be lying if I said that I only used this for making coffee. I use it for loose tea, when I cant find a measuring tablespoon and when I want to make mini cupcakes. This holds just enough cake mix for the tiny tart pan and eliminates having the mix drip all over the place.
The Bottom Line
Most people dont think twice about what they use to measure out their coffee grinds or loose tea but it does play a huge part in how the coffee or tea tastes once its been brewed. When these go on sale I plan on stocking up on them. Some of my friends are die hard coffee drinkers and I am sure theyll appreciate not only the design and look of the scooper but the way it holds it shine over a period of time. If you are serious about tea, coffee, cappuccino or adding shots to drinks this is a scooper for you. Cuisipro offers you a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects but come on, its a coffee scooper. Theres practically no way to destroy this outside of taking a hammer to it although it did manage to get into the garbage disposal a few times.
As always, thanks for the read!
