Pros: Durable, sturdy, rolls your generator, saves your back
After experiencing numerous power outages that lasted for days at a time, we decided we needed a generator. Of course, everyone else was in the same predicament and generators were already out of stock at the stores with the exception of the smaller wattage generators, which would be of no use to us. I finally found one 5,000-watt generator left that was a 3-hour drive one-way from our home. The last one in stock was the Coleman Powermate Pro-Gen 5000 #535202. (Click on the link to read my review on the Coleman generator.)
Now the generator itself is not really light in weight and certainly not one that you want to lift and move around frequently, so Coleman offers as an accessory, the Coleman Powermate Generator Kit, Model PA0650100.02 to make the generator portable on wheels for easy moving.
The store luckily had a couple left of these and as per the salesperson's suggestion, I bought it and we have never been disappointed in doing so.
It is an all steel construction and has two 8-inch rear wheels. The front legs are also sturdy steel.
Some assembly was required but less than 15 minutes.
It has an good size easy grip handle to move your generator around thus saving your back.
It has a one year warranty.
Reliability and Durability
We have had ours now for over 5 years and it still looks new. It is kept out of the rain as we do have a special "generator house" with venting.
The paint has not peeled and there are no signs of rusting.
The wheels are still in great shape and roll just as well as the day we bought it.
When we go to use the generator in our special "generator house", we do use the rolling frame and roll the generator out about a foot for hookup. Also we do have to roll the whole generator out for its maintenance.
Brands and Models
This kit is for all Coleman full cradle Powermate and Coleman Vantage Portable Generators with 1" square tubing generators. The kit can also be used for other brands as well.
Why Have One?
We paid around $35-$40 for this and it has been an excellent investment as I cannot imagine having to lug or tug on the generator to move it. I do not want to even picture the back aches one would receive in doing so.
It is well worth the money if you are going to be buying a generator or have one already. If you have a generator without wheels currently, I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about and just wished this thing had wheels. Well, you can have wheels, just buy this kit and save yourself a lot of time and joint pain.
You will never regret it should you purchase this.
