Be Ready to "Pump It UP!!!"

We all go camping and for the most part expect to be "roughing it," but we do everything we can to keep ourselves as comfortable as possible. One of the comforts I must have is a good air mattress, so I went out and purchased a Queen sized Coleman QuickbedII. At first I thought, what a good deal!! It came with a pump and attachment to exactly fit my bed. Plus, it had a double valve which supposedly locked air in while you put the valve cap back on. It worked great the first time. I pumped up the bed, pushed back the rubber valve and then took off the pump and put the cap on. It was a nice weekend and the bed slept wonderfully.
Since then things have not been so rosy!! Every time we go camping, I absolutely dread pumping up the mattress. After the first time, the outside rubber valve pops out of place therefore letting out the air before you can close cap. It seems the rubber valve wears out really easily and after being pushed in the pressure of the air in the bed pushes it back out. Usually I pump the the bed up 3 to 4 times before I can get the valve to stay in place and get the cap on. After the cap is on though, the bed does tend to hold air well and provide you with a very good night's sleep.
I did report this problem to Coleman and was simply told to cut off the valve and send it back to them. The bed does come with a warranty and they are going to replace. I respect this kind of customer service and am hoping that my experience with my new quickbed is much better than my first. After trying it out, I will update my opinion. For now I would advise that you try something else, or be prepared with your pump, a lot of batteries and plenty of extra time to spend "Pumping It Up!!"
