| geek_speak's Full Review: Lexmark Jet 3200 InkJet Printer |
It’s been more than a year since I bought a Lexmark 3200. I am proud to be the owner of this wonderful printer. I wasn’t really planning on buying a neither specific brand nor model back then. Mainly because I don’t really know which brand is better. It was the low price that caught my eyes. When I bought it in Costco, it only cost $150 with a $50 rebate! And further examination of the features on the printer really stirred up my mind. I mean, what else can be better than a 1200 x 600 dpi, 6 high quality colors, popular brand inkjet printer that only cost $100! So I happily grabbed the printer off the store and joyfully carried it home.
The installation for the printer was extremely simple, just pop in the pre-programmed CD and you’ll be setting up your printer just like you were to installing a program. By doing this, you don’t need to select a printer from your control panel and wait for Windows to detect the printer etc. It’s great for first-time computer users. If you want or in case your CD get scratched and malfunction, you can create floppy diskettes (3 of them) that contains all the information to install the printer. But if you use the diskettes, then you’d have to go to select a printer to install it.
Now let’s talk about the qualities of the printer. I mostly use my printer for printing written documents, reports, and occasionally artwork for presentations. So I’m quite familiar with both the Black & Color qualities of this printer. There are basically 3 qualities of work you can choose from: Quick, Normal, and High. In my opinion, these 3 qualities make a huge difference on the quality of your work! Basically the Quick one should be used for drafts and reading articles that DO NOT contain color. If you use the Quick one to print color, the colors might get a little messed up because of its speed. You should only use it for words that aren’t so important. If you want to do a very important written report that contains no color, (i.e. College entrance essay), you should probably use the normal quality but not the High. The High quality is only good for if you want to print artwork for presentations with a lot of vivid colors. Otherwise, it’s really a drag to wait 3-5 minutes per page to print. It’s a time waster! (Trust me it is!!!)
One other-thing I want to mention about this printer is that it comes with two very unique and useful program CDs: Micrografx Draw and Creata Card 2.0. They are really good programs to use for recreation and getting your work done, especially Draw. It’s very similar to Claris Works Draw on Macintosh except it’s a lot better. There are more tools, more styles of writing, and did I mention tons more clip art?!
I highly recommend you to buy a Lexmark 3200 Jet printer today! I guarantee that you would thank me for telling you this great product!!!
