Not a computer weenie? Then this one should work for you. The Lexmark 3200 is easy to set up, easy to use and easy to maintain. I purchased our Lexmark 3200 from the discount outlet store Costco for approximately $90.00 (after a $40.00 manufacturer's rebate). Compared to the hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars required for the high end color printers, the Lexmark was a darned cheap entry into the world of color!
Our Lexmark came with additional software from American Greetings and Micrografx Draw 6 to allow immediate experimentation creating greeting cards and fun graphics.
So what did we do? We ran the darned color cartridge out in the first week! And cartridge replacement (black or color) is a nothing but a black hole to drop your money down. We generally need to pay between $38.00 and $55.00 PER CARTRIDGE for replacement. (Note: you might want to make a rule about "no colored backgrounds" for the kiddos!) Once the newness wore off, however, the cartridges lasted longer. Additionally, there are "refill kits" available all over the web to reduce the cost of cartridge refills.
This product is not suitable for heavy use or professional graphics work...by its nature, inkjet copies will "run" if exposed to moisture.
If you don't have a great deal of money for the initial outlay, but are itching to enter the Wonderful World of Color <insert Disney theme, here>, then by all means, this is the printer for you!
