| badragon's Full Review: Columbia Dot Bowling Balls |
Overall, Ebonite balls have always been my favorite. When my old one wore out beyond any further treatment, I saw this Columbia product on sale. I have bowled in leagues but am now just an occasional bowler so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was pleasantly surprised by the Columbia Blue Dot.
I naturally roll a hook ball and, over the years, have tried to find a ball that will work with that rather than exacerbate it. The Blue Dot is perfect. It rolls smoothly and hooks nicely, without the wide, uncontrollable arcing that some balls are prone to. I don't have to work real hard to fight my natural instincts.
Since I am not bowling regularly, the lanes are often not in the best of shape at the times I bowl. The polyester Columbia Blue Dot seems to track really well when the lanes are a bit dry. In fact, its only major flaw is that it slides a bit when the lanes are freshly oiled. This is a great ball for picking up spares, too, if you are a more frequent bowler and want a "spare" ball in your bag too.
For the casual bowler, this is a great ball. It is under $50 and comes in a variety of colors. I was able to get the silvery color that I prefer (and that matches my other equipment) so I didn't feel an overwhelming urge to replace everything else too.

I was really surprised after I posted this and saw that it was listed at $105.00. I have found several in the $50.00 range, so if you are in the market, look around first.
