| forkids's Full Review: Combi Savvy Z Standard Stroller |
I swear by my Combi. This is one of the best purchases we have ever made and every new parent/expectant parent should have a good look before deciding on anything else. Combi makes many models in three different categories---Carriage, Travel, and Convenience. The one I am most familiar with is Combi Savvy Z.
We already had a carriage-type stroller by Peg Perego and needed a lightweight stroller. We wanted one that we could throw in the trunk of our car,one that was easy to open/close for errand-type trips, and most importantly, a stroller that would travel well.
The Combi Savvy weighs only 7 lbs. and holds a baby/child up to 45 lbs. The best thing about the stroller is that it folds in half and comes with an optional shoulder strap. This strap attaches in the back and can be removed at will. The strap is an extra $15 but worth every penny. The strap allows you to fling the stroller over your shoulder and have enough hands to handle your children and extra pieces of luggage.
The stroller is slim enough that it can maneuver very easily down the aisle of an airplane cabin. Both methods (aisle walking or shoulder holding) pass the test with flying colors. You can open the stroller with one hand, it has an underneath storage basket which is not as big as carriage stollers, the wheels swivel smoothly, it has a marginal sun canopy that I use in the folded position for my keys or a drink, the seat partially reclines for those sleepy kids and the guard rail is removable for when your baby gets too big to lift in easily. On top of all of this, it is an extremely good looking stroller.
I always stop other mothers who use Combi strollers to get their feedback and there has never been a negative comment made. I have even been in Babies R' Us when a mom-to-be was shopping for strollers with nary a salesperson to be found. A woman asked my opinion as I had my firstborn with me. I led her over to the Combi models and said, "for your lightweight stroller buy Combi, don't look anywhere else." I showed her how easily it opened/closed and the real winning point...how it folds in half and locks so easily." She bought one and it made my day. I know that the BabyCenter.com carries it but most reputable dealers carry the Combi lightweight stroller. I wouldn't recommend the cheapie umbrella models for $20, you might find yourself on your fourth one by child #2.
