Pros: Relatively compact, lightweight, portable. Allows kids to interact.
Cons: Small basket, minimal accessories.
We have two girls: 4 and 1 yrs old and we travel. We needed a stroller that would accommodate both children and yet be convenient enough for air travel. We are extremely pleased with this purchase.
Previously, we had owned both a Peg Perego and a single Combi stroller; both of which we loved for their respective uses. The single Combi, "ultra savvy" is a great lightweight stroller that is easy to fold. The Twin Savvy is exactly like having two ultra savvy stuck together.
SIDE BY SIDE OR TANDEM
Our first decision was to do side by side or tandem. Originally I had thought that the width of the twin savvy would make it difficult to steer, but that is not the case at all. It is actually very easy to steer. The square footprint and width are just wide enough to get through all standard size doors, so we've never had problems with fitting. I'm glad we went with side by side, because this allows the two girls to interact with each other (and that really helps as they entertain each other). I would never go tandem because of this.
COMFORT and CONVENIENCE
Our girls are petite and they fit the stroller comfortably. The stroller is their "home base" and they are very comfortable going back to it when tired. The front bar unlatches so that they can climb onto the chair from the front by themselves. Unfortunately, the 3 cupholders integrated into the bars are very shallow, which makes the terrible for holding drinks (which easily tip over). But they are great for holding crackers. The seats recline with the lightweight pull strap to about 30 degrees from flat. This enough for them to take naps when really necessary.
The hood generally does a good job of shading the kids; of course if you are heading into a low sun, it will not help. A small "window" at the top with a cover flap allows parents to see the kids through the hood, and close the flap for darkness when they nap.
We don't need the 5 point harness much but the light straps are functional. They are a little difficult to get adjusted due to the need to unweave a lot of the strap to get it adjusted. But once adjusted, they work fine.
The under basket, like the single Combi, is pitifully small and a cross bar runs right through the middle of it. It does work well enough to stuff soft items like sweatshirts in it, but we are unable to get our rather large baby bag in it. Instead, either we wear the baby bag, or I use caribeners to hook the bag on the handle. So unless you have a super mini "essentials" diaper bag, it won't fit in the under basket.
A tiny, soft "accessory" holder is attached to the handle where most strollers have those deluxe drink holder storage compartments. The twin savvy's barely holds closed water bottles and napkins, there's no way to get a "fast food drink" in it. But, due to the compactness of folding, we are willing to give up this feature.
There are two pocket behind each seat at the base of the hoods, which are useful for additional storage. We often put bottled water and snack in them.
The aluminum construction makes this stroller relatively light. Folding is very fast with a two hand release and fold closed. Once folded, this stands as a triangular column... read: NOT FLAT. So this takes a fair amount of room in a trunk, but ultimately smaller than two individual strollers. People at the airport are often amazed at how quickly and relatively compact it folds, and how fast it pops back out.
We've had this for over a year and a half now and we love it. The construction has held up to several air travel, and regular daily use. It should be noted that during air travel, we have a travel bag for it. There's a shoulder strap that can be used to carry the folded stroller.
The stroller sits on 6 wheels, so it's literally like a siamese twin ultra savvy combi stroller. When we were unfamiliar, the front center wheel would sometimes go into the locked position and make the stroller mysteriously difficult to steer. Once we were aware of this, we never had steering problems again as we made sure the wheel wasn't locked.
WE LOVE IT
Our most recent trip was to Disneyland and this stroller again work very well. This stroller continues to be a great purchase for us.
