Combos are a snack I just discovered. My son was eating some and I found the empty bag. Hmmm, what were these things? I had never tried them. Well, I didn't have to wait very long to find out. My son got another bag or two and I was able to try them for myself and see what all the hubbub was about. (He seems to be munching on a bag of Combos much of the time lately.)

Combos are baked snacks that look like little logs. They are pale yellow in color and the interior portion are a slightly different shade of yellow-ish orange (the creamy cheese). These are called a snack or a cracker, but to me they are more like a chip. Even though I consider these to be like a chip, they are different in shape from a traditional chip. They are about an inch long and about a half inch in diameter.
I didn't expect to like these much. I just had never really noticed them in the store and somehow figured they wouldn't be very memorable maybe due to their lack of marketing. I was wrong....again. These Cheddar Cheese Combos have a crunchy exterior and a creamy cheese interior. The taste is really good! I liked them very much as soon as I ate my first little log. It's got a great crunch and a good texture. They are not too salty, but have a tasty seasoning and lots of flavor.
The outside part of the Combos cracker tastes quite similar to a crunchy Cheese-it cracker. The inside of the tube is where you find the creamy cheddar cheese filling.
There are 140 calories in one ounce of these crunchy, creamy Combos Cheddar Cheese snacks. There is zero trans fat and 3 grams of saturated fat. The sodium numbers are just 310 mg. There is even one gram of dietary fiber and 2 grams of protein. Only 4 grams of sugar in one ounce.
wheat flour, vegetable oil, whey, maltodextrin, sugar, food starch-modified, salt, bakers and cheddar cheese, leavening, dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, soy lecithin, coloring, natural flavors, hydrolyzed corn gluten, lactic acid, yeast extract, lactose, buttermilk, citric acid.
There are many other Combos flavors, such as one with a pretzel exterior and cheese filling and a pepperoni pizza flavor and even a salsa and nacho flavor. I might not eat these all the time, because they are a highly processed food, but for an occasional treat, they're fun and different than typical chips or crackers.
WHERE TO BUY COMBOS:
Next time you're at the store, take a look for a bag of Combos and give 'em a try. You may be as pleasantly surprised as I was! My son buys his snacks usually at the local 7-11 or gas station mini-mart.
On the bag it reads that these Combos Cheddar Cheese crackers are the "perfect hunger management snack."
