Pros:Minutes from big attractions.
Cons:Everything else.
The Bottom Line:

It was a complete dive.

My littlest daughter is six, and had never been to Disney. We live in Florida but it is about four hours away from Disney. My oldest daughter and I decided that we were going to plan a small day trip for my youngest and my fourteen year old son.  We were on a budget and while she was at work, I spent time on the internet trying to find a motel for the evening that wouldn't break our pocketbooks.  I found the Comfort Inn Maingate West motel 9330 W Irlo Bronson Hwy Kissimmee, FL 34711, at a decent price. With tax the room came out to $51 for the night.  I kinda figured that since it was only minutes from Disney, being that cheap, I was kinda expecting it to be somewhat of a dive.  I was right.

The receptionist at the desk was very short and rude. We were the only customers there at the time, and she appeared to be doing nothing. I am pretty certain she wasn't in a rush to be so quick and rude with  us.  We were given a room key, and I had asked for an extra pillow because I have back problems and wanted to be sure I would be comfortable.  She rolled her eyes and said that she would bring me an extra pillow to the room, which did not arrive until 45 minutes later.  It was very late when we got there and all we wanted to do was sleep.

My daughter went in the room and the first thing she did was to check for bedbugs.  She works in a hospital and is a stickler for cleanliness.  Thank goodness we didn't see any bugs.  The bathrooms were small, needed serious updating and the sinks and tubs were dirty.  We turned our beds, and found ciggarrette burns in the sheets, along with hair that wasn't ours.

There was a regular bed along with a fold out bed that was in a cabinet. The fold out bed's bedspring was so dirty I can't even begin to express how dissappointed I was in the room. When you unfold the bed out, you are not able to walk to the bathroom without having to hop over the bed and disturb the person sleeping in it.

Outside parking lots were dark, and the sidewalks and porches had cracks with weeds growing through them. The porches were in serious need of attention.  There was peeling paint, and the trim and siding was falling off the building. It looked as if it were rotting.  The rooms smelled like dog pee. We did not feel safe  going out of our rooms and didn't even bother with calling the receptionist back.  I made all of the kids and myself sleep outside of the covers and take a thorough shower from head to toe when we woke up.  On our way to our rooms, it appeared as if there were prostitutes working in the back, and were standing near the dumpsters. We couldn't find our room at first and sort of took a wrong turn.

There were four of us total that were staying in the room.  There was only two bath towels, and one bar of soap, and one packet of shampoo.  We did have a refrigerator in the room which appeared to be clean and we set all of our sodas in them to get cooled for the next day. The rug in the room seemed to be old, and you could see it curling away from the wall. Whatever was under the rug was filthy.

The televison worked well, and thankgoodness for that! We needed the noise to drown out the fire arlarm that would chirp every sixty seconds.  Thank goodness I brought my Tylenol PM tablets or I wouldn't have gotten any sleep. I can say that the air conditioning worked well in spite of the humming noise.

I can't say that my bed was very comfortable. I woke up with a terrible back and neck ache.     I would probably never stay at this motel again. I don't care how cheap it was. It just wasn't worth the aggravation. I wiould have just slept in my car if I wouldn't have had the kids with me.

The kicker of them all was a handwritten note on an envelope thanking me for the tip they were hoping I would give them.... NOT!
