Pros: Comfort. Warranty. Comfort. Ease of assembly. Comfort
Cons: Wish I had the Cerenity mattress with another vendor's 5000 pump
The Bottom Line: Great mattress, especially if you realize air pressure is so variable it's silly to obsess of a 'sleep number'

| pb57's Full Review: Comfortaire Cerenity Mattress |
After 20 years on our high end Serta, it was time for a new mattress - didn't like the plush/pillow tops that were all we saw in inner-spring mattresses with 10 year warranties. didn't want to have to buy another mattress in 7 years, and felt locked into 1st sleeping position by Tempur-pedic. Liked some aspects of the Sleep Comfort air beds, but...
The 3000 was comfortable as long as we were centered on the air bladder, but off center, it was uncomfortable, and it had a hole in the middle. Couldn't test a 4000 except in twin. 5000 had massive pillowtop and was too soft.
Learned that Comfortaire's bladders butted up against each other, so maybe there was no hole in the middle. Penney's had a couple of Comfortaires in stock - equivalent to the Celenia and GS500 or GS700 - too much pillowtop on both, but no hole in middle.
And so we investigated 'mail order'. We found www.airbeds-online.com and the Cerenity with IFC2001 pump - no pillowtop, no hole in middle, 90 day trial, excellent warranty.
airbeds-online delivered a little bit more than they promised - delivery on the early end of the expectation they set, with a few friendly offers of help if we had any problem setting it up.
The box arrived undamaged with all promised pieces. The instructions were accurate and easy to follow. The only difficult part (I have a little arthritis) was zipping up the cover - easily solved by deflating the cores a bit. Everything fit - no leaks. It took about 45 minutes, but it was hot & humid, and we went slowly on purpose.
The comfort was immediate, even fully inflated. I let it deflate about 8 seconds from full; my wife deflates for 10 seconds.
The IFC2001 pump is louder than the SC 5000's pump, and it doesn't have digital readout, as the 5000's does, but fully inflating and counting the seconds of deflation is easy to figure out. We haven't used the pump after lights out, so the loudness is only a minor annoyance at worst.
No hole in middle. There is a difference between the firmness of the foam border pieces and the air cores, but it's minor, and it let's me know when I'm close to the edge. (There's a difference between the edge of an inner spring mattress and its center, too.)
Overall, it's a pleasure to rest or sleep on this mattress. I fell like I'm resting on a cloud...but the Cerenity is a lot more supportive than water vapor.
One's 'sleep number' differs depending on many variables, and one of the variables is sleep position. I still toss and turn, though less than on the Serta. In any case, I do not micro-adjust the firmness, and I've encouraged my wife no to micro-adjust, too. If we obsessed about the 'right' pressure, a quiet pump with a digital readout would be essential, I think.
