| kurtr20's Full Review: Comfortaire Cerenity Mattress |
We were looking for an alternative to traditional mattresses. Had a Simmons for 7 years and a Serta pillow top for 6 years. Both were comfortable for a couple of years and then went rapidly down hill after that with body indentations and multiple pressure points. The Serta was the worst. Both my wife and I would wake up sore and were having neck and back problems. We would also wake each other up at night getting in and out of bed due to the transfer of motion.
After researching Select Comfort, I found the reviews for Comfortaire and considering their time in the business and affordability, decided to pursue one of their beds. Comfortaire is a company that makes airbeds similar to those at Select Comfort but at a more affordable price. I chose the Cerenity Eastern King IFC (IFC is the type of air pump the bed uses) because I didn't want the problems associated with another pillow top and the Cerenity was the most affordable. I also liked the fact that the Comfortaires had a 90 day trial, a 20 year warranty, free shipping and you could replace individual pieces of the mattress if something wore out instead of replacing the whole mattress for a traditional one.
I had decided to buy from Nationwide Mattress until I saw the most recent review from pb57 that said they bought at www.airbeds-online.com. I checked out their website and sure enough, they were about $250 cheaper than Nationwide with the same guarantee and free shipping. Also Nationwide has something about a new fire code for box springs which sort of leads you to believe you need to buy a box spring from them instead using or purchasing your own. I only bought the mattress from www.airbeds-online.com which I believe is a Sleep Zone company. I bought the box spring from a local store for $100 less than Nationwide.
The Cerenity Eastern King with IFC was $1099 on airbeds online versus $1349 on Nationwide. Also, when I purchased the bed, I noticed airbeds online had only charged me $999 so I called to check on the order. They said they made a mistake keying in the price but they did not change the price for which I give them my recommendation.
The mattress came in 8 days and it was really no problem setting it up. The mattress has a real firm foam on the outside for support and two air bladders for each side that you inflate to your own comfort level. On top of the mattress is a foam pad about 2 inches thick. Nationwide has some upgraded mattress pads available on their website that you can replace the standard mattress pad with. All this goes inside a traditional looking mattress cover. You can see all the inner details at Comfortaire.com. It does not need to be reset each night so you can set it and forget it. Simply fully inflate your side then release air for a set number of seconds until you find your desired comfort level. More expensive models have numbers on the control. I found my comfort level on the second night which was 11 seconds from full.
So far after 2 weeks on the bed I am very happy. I sleep thru the night, don't wake up sore, don't get woken up in the middle of the night and have not had any back or neck pains. As far as durability goes it's too early to tell. Everything else is great.
