Pros:See above - I LOVE these pans.
Cons:I wish I could buy them locally in addition to on HSN.
The Bottom Line: Take the chance - you won't be sorry.
After reading some of the negative reviews on Command Performance Gold - I thought I would respond with my experiences as I would hate for anyone to pass up the opportunity to try this wonderful cookware.

First - I read the warranty VERY carefully. It is NOT voided by the use of metal utensils. It is suggested that if you don't want to risk the possibility of scratches - you can use plastic or wooden utensils. That's a no brainer - you take the chance of scratches on Teflon (and other coatings) pans by using metal utensils so why wouldn't stainless steel be the same? Metal on metal is bound to scratch.
Cooking with Command Performance Gold pans is so easy. The heat distributes evenly and the food doesnt stick. I use silicone spatulas to cook with and I have never had a problem with the pan handles getting too hot to hold. Even food that I have inadvertently burned cleans up with little effort. I love the glass see-through lids the cover handles are very secure. I havent had, or heard of the shattering problem that was reported in another review.
Second - The handles on the pans are soldered on rather than riveted. I look at that as a pro - I have some very expensive pans that have riveted handles and the handles are ALWAYS too hot for me to hold without potholders. Also, the rivets on the inside can trap small amounts of food and I've even seen them rust. Yuck. I would much rather have the smooth surface of Command Performance any day. Also - in the unlikely event that a handle would come off... that IS covered under warranty because it is considered a defect. I called the manufacturer and asked. I have probably 30 pieces of Command Performance Gold and my mother has the same. In the almost 6 years since they've been in our family - not one handle has become loose or broken. I wouldnt say that either of us have been particularly careful either with 2 teenagers that resent having to do the dishes
they still look great!
Most recently I purchased HSN Item 132-926 22 piece Cookware set for $144.90 plus $16.95 shipping and handling. I wanted this set specifically because most of the pieces were the casserole type without long handles. I prefer them because I have a 5 burner gas stove and the casserole style pans fit nicely on the burners. When needed I can use all 5 burners without having to worry about where to put all the handles. The following is included in the set I just purchased:
1 Qt Covered Saucepan (this is the only piece in the set with the traditional long handles)
2 ˝ Qt Covered Chefs Casserole Pan with buffet handles
3 ˝ Qt Covered Chefs Casserole Pan with steamer insert
8 Qt Covered Stock Pot
8 ˝ Covered French sauté use with buffet handles
11 inch covered deep sauté use Casserole Pan
12 inch oval roasting pan and rack
(3) 6inch prep bowls
(3) tools slotted spoon, slotted spatula and solid spoon
The tools really didnt add anything to the set because I viewed them as more of fancy serving utensils rather than actual cooking utensils. They do look nice on a table or buffet.
Third - Common sense is going to tell you that the mirrored shine on these pans might not last as long if you put them in the dishwasher. After all, glasses and plates sometimes get "etches" on them from the dishwasher. I rarely put any pans in the dishware because they take up too much room and I'd have to run the thing 3 times a day. Command Performance Gold pans rinse out in most cases - they don't need to go in the dishwasher. I have a top of the line dishwasher and the manual states you can wash china in it - aside from the fact that my grandmother would rise from her grave and smack me if I put it in there... I would NEVER take the chance and put my china in the dishwasher. I feel the same way about these pans - it just takes a second to wash them.
Fourth - At $144.00 for 22 pieces these pans are nearly disposable. Have you seen the price of individual pans at Wal-Mart? Granted you dont have to pay shipping and handling but you cant compare the quality or the look. Because the pans are so affordable, I have given several pieces as gifts and people have always raved about them and in several cases purchased additional pieces.
I havent tried Command Performance Golds non-stick pans yet. I dont like coatings on pans I had several Ultrex pieces that scratched and peeled very easily. Once they were scratched I no longer used them because I was afraid of pieces of the coating in our food consequently those pans had a much shorter life span and obviously you dont have that problem with stainless steel.
The only con I can come up with is just that they are only sold through Home Shopping. Purchasing individual pieces and paying the shipping and handling several times can be expensive. It is a much better deal with purchase a set to begin with and pay the shipping once. Before purchasing an entire set though I would recommend evaluating your cooking routines and get the set that is most suited to your needs. Some of the sets contain serving pieces that you might not use too often unless you entertain regularly. Some contain more tools which you might not need. There are enough sets though that I think anyone could find one that best suites them just be sure to read the descriptions well.
If you are still skeptical I would recommend buying a "try-me" piece and use and abuse it. I bet you'll come back for a larger set. Im very happy with this cookware and can anticipate purchasing more pieces in the future.
