Pros: They are old time in their devotion to customer service serving todays customer
Cons: none worth mentioning, what a relief!
I have banked with many banks in my life. Essentially, you put your money in, take your money out, occasionally speak with the lady at the desk, and that's it. You really don't give it much of a thought. You do pause and take a moment to ask yourself why you are there when you are aggravated at a drive through window teller that takes forever, or they lose a deposit, and my favorite is why they feel they can rob you with some of the outrageous fees they charge. That's when you care, and that's generally the time you switch banks. With me it happened every 2 years or so.
I haven't switched banks in over 12 years, I bank at Commerce in New Jersey.
Commerce Bank is without question, the best bank I have ever banked at. Pretty strong words? Perhaps, but it is true.
I was brought over to Commerce by a really strong recommendation. Not so unrealistic, considering, I too have made that recommendation hundreds of times over the years. Yes, there have been irritations, but they have always been addressed. I have also found myself taking any concerns or irritations to the manager, because I want it to continue to be the best. You see I care about this bank, I don't want to change again.. I am home here.
Lets see the reasons I stay are many. Is it the 7 day banking with hours that start at 7:30 am and run as late as 8 pm, or perhaps is it the ease with which you can go in on a payday and cash a check with all teller windows humming efficiently and expediently. Maybe it's because they have given me loans at really favorable rates and have bent over backwards everytime, to see I was treated with the respect, any customer deserves. Yes they offer all the services most banks do, so what makes them so special? Why do so many people bank at Commerce? I feel it's because they take the time to do the things that other banks do... right, the way it's supposed to happen. Maybe I like being treated like my business means something, or like hearing my name in a cheery hello everytime I go in? Online Banking? Oh yeh they do it, and yes..you got it...they do that right too!
You can apply for a loan or credit card and mortgages, pay bills, trade stock, conduct mortgage or loan calculations online. You can also apply for insurance as well. The services offered online are daunting! Their website http://www.commerceonline.com/ is expertly laid out with browsing keep to a minimum and efficient link to where you need to go. They were one of the first banks to offer online banking around here.
Fees are reasonable, free checking online, senior citizen free checking (I don't qualify for that yet), minimal ATM fees if you don't bank there, free if you do. And they have that neat change machine which I have sat in amusement so many times to see people coming in with everything from socks to Tupperware filled with change, only to dump it all in that machine and walk up to the teller with a ticket to cash out, like an amusement at a carnival. I really like the little red banks, pens, key fobs and the little things they give you to just thank you for coming in! Hey, I'm a sucker for that kind of attention.
Okay so I am guilty, and pampered, but most of all, I am home.
In case you were wondering...no I don't work or have any other affiliation with Commerce other than that of a happy customer. I have given them all my business, (personal & professional) and for the first time in a long time am so pleased to do business on this level, with people who know how to do get it right!
