What's not to love about a bank that has Sunday hours, and even has hours most major holidays? Commerce Bank is the most convenient bank I have ever used. I have been with them for almost five years, and in that time I have never had a problem. No matter which branch I go to, the staff has always been friendly, professional, and willing to help.
The biggest draw for me was the hours of operation. A lot of banks have extended drive thru hours. But for the most part you are limited in what you can do at the drive through window (mostly just deposits and withdrawls) and those hours are only for certain nights. Commerce's drive thru is open every weeknight until 8 PM, so I don't have to use up my lunch break or rush out of th office to try and make it to the bank before they close. And Thursdays and Fridays, the lobby is also open until 8 PM. And unlike some banks that only offer partial services after normal hours, I can get any service I need. So if I need to get something notarized, or need a cashier's check, or want to open a new account, I can do it when it's convenient for me. I can every get full service banking on Sunday, with lobby hours from 11 am to 4 pm!
Another plus with Commerce is that you don't get nickel-and-dimed with fees. I pay $12 a month for a basic checking account (free if my daily balance stays above $100). That may sound high compared to other banks. But I can walk in to my local branch and get a cashier's check or money order for no fee. I have gotten notary service for free. I can get as many counter checks as I need for free. Not that I have needed to order checks in the last three years, since I take full advantage of their free online banking.
I can go online and schedule payments to anyone and not have to worry about finding envelopes or buying stamps. Commerce prints the checks and mails them off. And I can use the online banking for anyone I want to write a check to, not just selected merchants or creditors like some other banks. All I need to do is fill in the name and address and they are added to my list of payees. If I am going to be away on vacation, I can schedule my payments to go out weeks before I leave, so I don't have to worry about them. What I save in stamps alone more than pays for my monthly service fee.
I can also print off copies of my cancelled checks using the online service when I need to, instead of having to contact the bank and request copies.
I have also been impressed with the accuracy of my statements. I'm one of those people who will spend hours looking for a missing penny when I reconcile my account. Fortunately, I have yet to have to do that. And when I do have a question about something on my account, I can call them and actually get a human being, instead of being trapped in an automated system for fifteen minutes.
