This is my first laptop and boy was I surprised! I had first started researching laptops for my Christmas presents. I did every sort of researching you can imagine. I look at processor benchmarks, Compaq's reliability. I researched the different kinds of computers with the features I wanted (20 gig, 256mb, cdrw/dvd) and discovered that Compaq had the lowest price around. I started discussing it with my friends and they kept telling me to pay the extra hundred dollars and get another brand. Everyone kept saying that Compaq was a big mistake. Well being the cheapskate that I am I went out and bought the Compaq and guess what.......I LOVE IT!!!!! I have not had one problem with it. It has lived up to every detail that the detail says, "You'll be able to do just about everything on the go that you can do in the office with the 1.2GHz AMD® Athlon™ 4 processor, 256MB PC-133 SDRAM memory, 20GB hard drive, 14.1" TFT display, DVD/CD-RW combo drive and V.92 modem. So whether you're relaxing at home or trekking across the country, the power to stay connected can be right at the tips of your fingers." This is a great machine and I recommend it to everyone!!!
