Pros: The Athlon XP 1700, Sleek look, comfortable to type on
Cons: It gets hot.. but the integrated 2 fans rarely come on to cool it.
The Bottom Line: With all the features and the fact that you can probably find one on ebay for under 750.00, this notebook is a classic.

Overall this notebook has been the best I've purchased. I've had nothing but problems with IBM and I was nervous about buying a Compaq, but apparantly with HP buying out Compaq, this shouldn't be an issue.
The most impressive thing to me on this notebook is the brightness and clarity of the display. A 15" notebook display is plenty big and it looks sharp! The keyboard is extremely responsive and has a nice feel to it. And the 30 gigabyte hard drive is more than enough space for what I'm using it for, mainly school and games. It also features a firewire port (1394), 2 usb, s-video and all the standard ports minus a serial.
The JBL Pro speakers are amazing! You wouldn't believe how bassy and nice these sound. It's a portable DVD theatre as well. I do like the scroll button that's seated below the touchpad. It's responsive and is extremely convenient when viewing a webpage.
To top off the notebook it has an Athlon 1700 XP processor which runs around 1.4 ghz. It's plenty fast and along with the Radeon ATI 64 MB graphics card, this will play your top games! And with a DVD\CD-RW drive, there's no doubt why I sold my desktop after buying this.
One more thing: I like the look of this laptop. It's got an outer silver chasis and to me at first glance resembles a book. It's comfortable to carry and also has about a 3 hour battery run length. It doesn't hurt that this notebook is priced so well. I got a super deal on mine off Ebay myself.
If you're looking for a value priced notebook with plenty of pluses and can overlook the weight, this might be what you're looking for.
