| jim5554's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario 900US (470037-278)... |
Like Creygen I Bought a 906 at Circuit City around Christmas time. It work flawlessly for about a month. It suddenly stopped booting and had to be returned to HP for service. HP graciously sent it right back without touching it. They said their tech couldn't find a problem. I don't know how that's possible since I found it right away. I sent it back and it was returned about a week later. They claimed that they replaced the motherboard and all was well. Guess what? No change. I returned it for a third time. The third time was a charm. This time they returned a functional computer. It worked for about six months and then began having problems again. Unfortunately for me, since my initial encounter, HP's service has seriously gone downhill. This time the customer support person demanded $30 to even talk to a tech to arrange for repair. The guy was an incredible moron and would not accept that it was a warranty issue. It took three calls and hours on hold to get a tech to authorize the return. All's well right? No so fast! This time they claim that the problem is due to my pouring some kind of liquid into the computer and they refuse to fix it under warranty. I can assure you that no liquids or other substances entered the computer before it reached their repair facility.
HP(Compaq) computers are crap and they do not honor their warranties. Their customer service department is apparently located in India. I have a great deal of admiration for some one who speaks two languages but that does not make them easy to understand or to be certain they fully understand you. The problem is compounded by the fact that although it's the middle of the afternoon for you, the poor soul on the other end of the line is dragging his butt though a midnight shift. It's probably 3AM in his part of the world. How well do you function at 3AM? HP doesn't care and apparently has no interest in after purchase customer service. AVOID HP COMPUTERS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
