Pros: Smooth acting touchpad. Great Sound. Very high definition display.
Cons: It is an ugly utilitarian color and shape.
The Bottom Line: At $1399 and $250 worth of rebates no other company came close to this value.

| idopid's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario 900US (470037-278)... |
I had to spend a lot of hours searching for function, quality and price. Once I made my mind up on the minimum requirements I picked the Compaq 900US. Part was cost, $1399 - $250.
I have had 2 Toshiba's and 2 Compaq's and was serviced well by both, so I did not have a bios toward either.
The AMD processor runs at 1.4 Gig but is listed as a 1700 (hence equal to a Pentium 1.7). It is very fast. Here is how I had that explained to me. A sports car (Pentium) is very fast, but it can only carry a limited load. A dump truck (AMD) is slow but can carry a large load. Therefore if you are carrying a big load the AMD is actually more efficient thus faster.
The screen is nice, bright and clear. The peripherals work well, and the speakers for a PC are awesome. The DVD works very well. The four way scroll key at the bottom of the mousepad is a great help on documents.
I was told this is not a gaming machine but that is not on my list of minimum requirements.
